Re: Sabine on Clay 2013

Sort of relieved clay is over in time for her. Time to practice 3-4 days on the green before heading to KA.
Btw grass courts are all around ... and weather looks better than last year.

Re: Sabine on Clay 2013

As I said it looks like a exho. Team manager of Karlsruhe is Markus Schur, former Fed Cup captain. He probably made the contact.

What's odd, her actual club Rot-Weiss Berlin (where Sabine practiced the weekend before Paris) has a home tie as well on Sunday, but either couldn't afford her or wasn't interested in her playing, although she was obviously interested in playing Bundesliga and they emphasise her as their figurehead all along. The club hosts a grade 1 junior tourney now, which is fine, but brings zero publicity. Really weird that they're talking about reviving the German Open for years, but they do nothing to at least revive interest in tennis in Sabine's home city.

That's interesting
Never heard anything like this before to be honest. Might be fun for her so it's good I guess

Wondering whether she's really flying across and comes back just for 1 day Bundesliga.

Re: Sabine on Clay 2013

Probably yes. She was committed by Karlsruhe for one match (and maybe doubles). They're even advertising with her.

Their opponent on Sunday will be Augsburg who have Kvitova and Schiavone on their entry list, but the highest ranked player who actually played this season was Mijacika. So this is gonna be kind of a better exho match for Sabine.

Don't like this either. Maybe she's practicing on grass in Halle this week. At least she's out of doubles now to prepare for the grass season.

Re: Sabine on Clay 2013

As the bookend to her clay season, is she still going ahead with that Bundesliga match in Karlsruhe on Sunday? Doesn't strike me as the best preparation for the grass, assuming it means her arriving fairly late in Birmingham.
