Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

I don't see her getting more than 35 points per tournament at the moment and she is 325 points behind no. 75 so she needs one or more of her blinding tournaments to get out of the hole she is in.

Since the US Open last year she has entered fewer ranking tournaments than most of her rivals and that sadly means she has fallen behind them. Her previous ranking was distorted by a few excellent tournaments and now she is in her true position. I hope her management has got a plan. They have been pretty good in the past at collecting points.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Well, she is in the MD of Monterrey, so maybe there's still some time to avoid dropping back to ITFs, which I am sure would be pretty depressing, especially since she doesn't have a reason this time like glandular fever.

I think Hev misses competing against Laura(in terms of their rankings). I miss the days when it looked like they'd both be regular top 50 players...

P.S Hev is now British no.3! Broady took the no.2 spot!

Dawson. Didn't see the match but I can only assume that Heather was terrible because Tig is one of the most average, forgettable players out there. Down to #124 in the live rankings now. She dropped this low a few years ago after the glandular fever and it didn't take her long to get back to a decent level after a couple of good ITF wins. Hoping for a repeat this time around but her circumstances are different this time. No injuries, no illnesses, just bad form and a severe lack of confidence.

Lost 6-7 1-6. Absolutely no positives to be taken from that performance.

Down 0-3. No improvement yet.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Heather has lost the first set 6-7. She is very tentative so she isn't generating enough topspin. Her second serves are awful. She can turn this around if she hits the ball more aggressively.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Heather is playing doubles with new best friend Ajla Tomljanovic against Babos and Pav and if they get through that, Mirza and Strycova await.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Heather is playing Tig who is at a career high of 91. Heather needs to win this.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Hev pushed Mladenovic hard last time, but pushing hard don't get the points, unless you win.

I hope she can pick up some points in Monterrrey.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Heather is now ranked 123 in the live rankings, two behind Naomi. She needs some lucky draws for the rest of the year.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Heather has been drawn against a qualifier and then Mladenovic again.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Heather played well except for too many double faults as her weak second serve was under attack. In the end Jo was the stronger player and made fewer errors.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

I was hoping those 120 points have already been taken off otherwise she is plummeting.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

She won a round here last year, so this just replicates that. It prevents her from sinking further in the rankings.

Miami is where she is very vulnerable - she got to the fourth round last year, so has 120 points to defend.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

That win has done nothing for her ranking, still at 107. Hard to recover when you get that low.
