Re: Irina-Camelia Begu Cheering Thread!

I think I remember well that Irina started and finished the 1st set with a DF.
The rain could have helped her because some coaching was definitely necessary to handle better against Rogers.

Overall a very good clay season she can build upon.

Somehow this was about as disappointing as Halep losing the Pennetta last year. And cause was probably the same: tiredness.

Does she still play next week then?

Re: Irina-Camelia Begu Cheering Thread!

Damn it . What a chance she had ......

Oh well, R4 for the 2nd time in the career is very good too. Will probably be #27 in 8 days. #18 in the Race now.

Next: grass - Birmingham, Eastbourne, *Wimbledon (*very big chances to be seeded) .

She couldn't handle the sheer power of Shelby's hitting and she had a bad day. Looked tired and finished even in 1st set.
She learned a lot in last month and all is good. She is a much better player now than last year

Lost to Shelby in straight sets 36 46

Think all the long matches caught up to her because she was making a lot more errors than usual and didn't serve all that well, either.

Re: Irina-Camelia Begu Cheering Thread!

good news Irina plays 2nd on Lenglen and not on same time with Simo
Simo plays last 4th match tomorrow on Philippe-Chatrier Court.
A long day for the Romanian fans. Lets hope for tears of joy at the end.

She was extremely disappointed because she never gets calls when she wins (and any of her wins never made even 20% of the fuss that insignifiant and made up story created). She was so disappointed that a negative story makes the news and relevant stories are totally ignored. She wasn't affected by the whole thing, but couldn't use her phone for a while.
Ahh okay very interesting, that makes a lot of sense! It's funny, she is playing so well after all the fiasco. Again, multumesc

Still if she can keep up this level, she can be top 15 at least by the end of the season. After her good Miami run, I was thinking it's a positive sign that she is winning matches again but I never expected her to have the most wins during the clay season on tour

Would somebody mind translating the main points of this video for me, especailly the Garcia part? Multimesc

Were there ever 2 Romanian girls in last 16 of a GS? Usually its only one.
Yes according to the WTA site but i didnt go check "Begu makes up one half of the first Romanian pair through to the second week in Paris for the first time in nearly 20 years, when Irina Spirlea and Ruxandra Dragomir both reached the round of 16 - the latter went on to finish in the quarterfinals."

Yeah I know I am stating obvious things but is so enjoyable to watch with your own eyes as this happens.
Took a long time to actually happen, so it bears repeating

Re: Irina-Camelia Begu Cheering Thread!

Rogers just upset Kvitova with two bagels sandwiching a TB loss to set up Irina's R16. Put the rest to good use and haide

Also, maybe she should call up Sorana and ask what worked and what didn't when she played Shelby in Brazil
