Not a surprise unfortunately - the writing has been on the wall

Hopefully see her on the doubles court over the summer!

Re: Casey Dellacqua cheering thread - Volume 2

So sad for Casey but she knows what's best for herself and what she's capable of. Hopefully will be back at the top of the doubles game in no time

^Agree, hope she plays the AO one more time in singles

But glad she isn't retiring entirely

Re: Casey Dellacqua cheering thread - Volume 2

Casey has a top 100 protected singles ranking... may as well utilise that even if just for doubles practise. One last AO singles showing is surely appealing.

Wow big news. All the best to her. If this helps her extend her career an extra year or two, good move.

Looking forward to seeing Casey back on tour. Would be great if she could team up with Ash again at some point

^ hope the doubles comeback eventually brings a women's doubles grand slam trophy to go with her mixed one.
Pity we won't see her in singles anymore, but glad she hasn't hung up the racquet entirely and is well enough to give the tour another crack.

Good to hear, but vague answers not suggesting when she'll return to competition. I would guess she'll play some Aussie ITF's before the WC play off and events in Aussie summer. Thats probably best case scenario at this point in time. Ash and Ajla should join her.

That's purely speculation though. We know she left for an extended amount of time because of her injury, so it was clearly serious, more so than first thought around October time. Probably best that they haven't put another time limit on the recovery again.

I'm not sure if the concussion is still a problem but I think at the moment she just wants some time off and to spend time with her family and live a "normal" life

Thanks

I didn't know that a concussion could have lingering issues for a long time like this. Hope she will be okay soon to resume playing tennis.
