Re: Océane Dodin

Océ lost 5-7 7-6 4-6 to Govortsova at Q1 Montreal

another close match she lost but here against a player who hasnt won many matchs this year

another waisted opportunity to gain points for Océane and finally enter into top100

Re: Océane Dodin

Taking a set off 2016 Puig is a "good" loss for Océane. Hopefully a sign of good things to come!

Jow She is so close and so far at the same time.. she really needs to fix her serve issue, because with it she wouldnbe so stronger. I hope she can make top 100 this year but she needs to do good at one point in WTA. Puig was not a good draw as she is full of confidence so one set won is positive.

Re: Océane Dodin

Thank you for the pics and the report

about the serve it is a BIG part of her game, if she's off on it she wont play strong and consistent tennis

puig is playing with confidence and is tough to beat when she's on, océ won a set which is positive

I saw she's in Montreal qualies, hopefully she'll do something good there

Re: Océane Dodin

Lost to Puig 2-6 6-4 3-6

I was there for this evening match. Océ got off to a slow start in this match, looking passive and allowing Puig to dictate. It just looked like she hadn't found her range. In the second set, Océ became more aggressive and served much more effectively. Puig made a push back, but Océ held strong and saved a break point to serve out the set. The third set was close until about 2-3, after which Océ struggled to hold every service game. She lost the rhythm on her serve and even though she kept fighting (breaking Puig back twice), ultimately it was her serve that was her undoing, as she was broken for a third and final time and Puig served out the match. 11 double-faults total (3 in one game)

I can say that Océ is continuing to improve as even now, I am surprised to see her playing some defense and staying in rallies. She also looks more physically-fit than I expected - I thought she would be all skin and bones. Océ really has to make her serve more solid, though. Her first serve percentage is too low and the double-faults killed her. She called out her coach (her father, I think - is he bald?) many times in this match.

P.S. Puig had a lot of Puerto Rican support.

Re: Océane Dodin

I saw Océane today! She had an afternoon practice in the heat of the day (maybe she's not a morning person ). Her court was the last one in a row and no direct access to fans, so I had to watch from a distance. Nevertheless, from what I saw, she killed Aleksandra Wozniak in practice. By now, I'm not surprised to see that Oceane isn't trying to hit the crap out of every ball. She hit quite a few nice drop shots that her opponent had no chance of reaching. Her flat groundstrokes are amazing to watch.

Re: Océane Dodin

Winning matches on clay?

Saw part of the first set as well, and she was playing beautifully. Hopefully this signals something great to come for the rest of the year.
