Re: Ashleigh Barty

As she is playing doubles in Singapore - for her to then play singles in Zhuhai would be a dream 2017.

It's possible for either Goerges or Kasatkina to win the tournament and overtake Ash, but neither of them are clear-cut favourites.

Gavrilova has a reasonably kind draw, but I think she will be tired, and making the final might prove to be a step too far.

Rybarikova also has to be tired, and is possibly carrying an injury. As mentioned in a post above her first opponent is Sharapova. If she comes through that match, she'll have to play Cornet. Not sure how Sharapova will play, but if Cornet plays how she did in the first round, I don't see Rybarikova making the quarters.

As you say, worst case scenario, Ash ends up at 22; but it actually won't come as a surprise if she manages to hold on to 19th though. I'm definitely feeling more optimistic now, than I was this time last week.

Re: Ashleigh Barty

Just read Strycova is out of Luxembourg. So, even if she wins Linz she can't overtake Ash for Zhuhai.

Re: Ashleigh Barty

I think Strycova, Rybarikova or Gavrilova could spoil the party for Zhuhai. It's good to hear Ash sounding positive and happy. Sounds like she is focused on Singapore doubles. Still, my fingers are crossed for Zhuhai. It would be a great reward for how well she has performed this year.

She was so consistent in 2017 and is no where near her peak age, then she can only get better in 2018 and onwards.

Now time to watch live race rankings and whether she can hold off #19 for Zhuhai...

Yeah, i think she knows how good she can be. Like me, ive known it for ages

As for Zhuhai i think she is a shoe in. I want her to climb a couple more spots by the end of the year.

Re Zhuhai: They will likely be 1 or 2 withdrawals among 9-19. Kvitova will pass her if she wins Beijing, the others players are 258 points or more behind .

We need a top class English Tennis player so we will import Svitolina, seriously I rate her highly and the way she keeps improving her game, as well as her strength and fitness will give her as good a chance as anyone in the coming years. Baiting Australians never would I do that! The Aussie girl did her best in this game but was up against a top player on her game and it was too much for her, no excuses she was comfortably second in this game. She does though look in better physical shape than last time I saw her on grass, if she keeps that going maybe next year she can get closer to the top players like Svitolina, Mugu or Halep.
