He's officially available now. May be a nice one. If he teaches her to serve like Konta woooow.

Jelena is a lovely girl. We didn’t know each other very well before playing together in Asia, but she is such an happy person. I always tell her she is like a donkey [smile]. She is such a good person to have around, so positive, I like her game and I was impressed by the way she played in Asia. I lost to her in Beijing even if I played a good match but she had an incredible level. I think she will be no. 1 too."

Look who's taking a flight with #CS300airBaltic today!
It's an honor to fly Jelena Ostapenko to the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore where she will make her debut. Wishing you good luck!

So, it seems Anabel may end up leaving anyway. What do you guys think about it? Who should she hire as a coach in case it happens?
AMG might be of a use on RC, but Lena's universal game starts somewhere else. Alena is another level, no Medina can manage that. I'm good with her leaving. Lena needs a better coach.
Who do you think would be a good one? Fisette? Kotyza? Högstedt? Sam Sumyk? Cahill?

I'm not that insisting. Ts just weird. I can't understand why, I guess. What's wrong with this world if someone misses a jewel.

There will be a player forum soon for her. They only add/remove player forums every few months.

Re: Jelena Ostapenko

Still no forum for my oustanding girl Well. I did my time for that, I freaked out when I saw her schedule in Wuhan SF, that was atrocious. I should be sorry for that, but me bebe was in danger and not qualified back then. I could have done better, at least I tried. She was relaxed in Peking though, I felt it too, she was in peace, just rolling, and she did it to YEC, I was pleased with that, she did it and it felt good. I believe she means it in Singapore, she skipped all IHs, I'm a bit nervous coz of that if she can do it to SF. I'm confused, I want to believe, but she didn't do anything decent indoors since '15.

Re: Jelena Ostapenko

I'm kind of torn on whether I want her to get to the next level and have a better serve. In order to do that she'll probably need more strengthen conditioning (muscles) like most of the top players have. To me what makes her such an intriguing player is her youth, full motion strokes, good looks, and not too musclely. I would like her to have more of a flat serve instead of an Agassi looking serve. If her current first serve could be her second serve and higher % in, she'd be unbeatable. But in order to do that she would need more upper body and leg strength which would look muscley - yuck. She IS #7 now with what she has now and with a little more experience she can move up without having to look like Serena. lol

To be in the top ten and qualified for Singapore with such a weakness is a testament to how good the rest of her game is. Just excited to see her with a reasonably good serve, a
great serve would probably put her fighting for number one. More importantly contesting more slam finals.

I'd hope Medina is not going anywhere. She has a wise head on those shoulders and Jelena needs someone like that.

I'm glad Jelena is off this week, she needs to rest. So many players over do it and get injuries and poor performance as a result.
I would like Anabel to stay, at least part time (i mean she wasn't in Seoul, turned out okay). She has tons of experience (on the technical side too) and just can talk the way she needs, yes that includes their wuhan "drama". They seemed perfectly fine just couple days later in Beijing.
But agree she also needs other, more technical voices too. Just perhaps not during matches. They seemed to work with the physical trainer Scott Byrnes during USO season, so at least covering other bases. Aljona has all the money she needs for a team that available for only her, and everybody would want to work with her, so options are plenty in every area.
