Probably best if we ignore the serve stats

Encouraging that Laura toughed this out though, even if Shinikova has been in shaky form of late. Laura has now won a match at her last 5 events - slow progress but still better than before

Pierre. Laura!! A win!

Was rolling until 6-1 2-1 when seemingly the wheels fell off and all of a sudden it was one set all.

She went down a break in the third set 3-2, which is when I thought it was over. Then Laura roared back to win 4 games in a row! Was clearly nervous serving out the match and had trouble, but got over the line in the end!

Very pleased with that. Great to see the fight. Will try and find some video of the match online if there is any.

Re: Return Winner: The Laura Robson support thread.

According to oddschecker.com, most bookies have Laura as slight favourite, which I suppose reflects the faith the gambling public still has in Laura, bless them.

Match starts in a little over an hour.

(Or two, if the start time I saw wasn't local time.)

I hope this tournament goes well for Laura. She has two players lined up whom she routined last year... Then she could get an opportunity to take on WTA level players Dodin and possibly Bencic if she makes the semifinal.

Based on her last match though, it's entirely possible she gets routined by Shinikova.

I'm actually confident Laura can win this ()

Laura has 1-0 H2H with Shinikova and Shinikova has not been in amazing form recently. Hoping Laura can win and we can have dream second round.
Mestach v. Robson? I always think they played in the SF at Tarbes 2008, but when I check the results it usually turns out they were in opposite halves.

The match is not on tomorrow's OOP. I have a feeling R1 can take three days in French ITFs; perhaps I'm misremembering.

Those of you with better memories than me will recall that Laura beat Shinikova in her qualifying run at last year's USO, so this rematch will give a good indication of where Laura's form is compared to her best run post-injury.

Partnering Diana Marcinkevica in doubles.

Re: Return Winner: The Laura Robson support thread.

The problem is every draw looks like a tough draw lately for Laura. I would like to see an in-form Laura against Dodin.

I'm not sure she likes any surface at the moment.
