That's one basic ass 1R opponent. No excuses.

she showed some positive signs at the end of last year but perhaps she still is a bit "rusty" at the start of this new year.

We'll see what she shows at Melbourne.
Yes the match up vs Falconi wasn't great but i expected her to bt Krunic

I keep waiting for the outdoor hard run and its just not happening.

Re: Océane Dodin

Has anyone worked out yet why Dodin can't win on outdoor hard?

Re: Océane Dodin

They may not be as slow as you think and let's see the draw before we say she has no chance of winning R1.

Re: Océane Dodin

yes I dont see her win R1 in the AO with such results...

but well a slam is so different from other tournaments for sure but dont expect miracles neither from her. Except if she works with someone who will make her play with more spin and control.

the australian courts are quite weird and slow

Re: Océane Dodin

Judging by these results, Océ would lose 1R at the Australian Open regardless of who she drew as she just got whomped twice in straight sets by #50-120 range scrubs.

Let's just hope this means as much (read: as little) as the "upsets" of top players we saw this week.

Re: Océane Dodin

lost 5-7 4-6

Well looking at the stats Océ serve was not good at all with 57% of 1st serve, 1 single ace for 8 DFS

dont know what's wrong with her but losing to a player like falconi who didnt win a single match for months is NOT GOOD AT ALL.

Re: Océane Dodin

Océane qualie draw

(2)McHale v Brady
Linette v Kucova
Witthoeft v Allertova
Falconi v (7)Dodin

Falconi not winning any match for months now, hopefully Océ will be much more inspired than in brisbane

Re: Océane Dodin

I thought despite this difficult matchup she would have found a way to get the win

she showed some maturity in her game at the end of 2016 but this is not indoor anymore. Has to get use to the surface, heat conditions, different opponents

hard to state an opinion about what happened there. I know krunic game and there's nothing impressive in it, in fact she has average technique in both sides. On GM they said she hit 17 aces and on l'Equipe they said Océane failed to serve...

well at least Océane has time now to get used to australian summer courts and conditions...What matters most is seing her well prepared and ready for the AO

Re: Océane Dodin

The loss that I felt most people expected.

Playing Sydney Q next. It would be good for Océ to play at least a couple more matches before the AO.
