Dasha let her mind be so overwhelmed by the situation of playing a final in Russia.
Goerges was on fire, but Dasha didn't do anything to try to hurt her.
From the very beginning you could see she was going to lose.
It was sad to watch, she almost cried in her first OCC in the first set and, of course, she was heartbroken in the trophy ceremony.
But I believe every situation can be a learning experience. Tough moments makes us stronger.
She now knows she needs to focus and play like any other match. Same thing when she gets to later stages of big tournaments.
WTA TV commentator critized her new coach saying he should have given her more technical advices in the OCC.
I disagree, he tried to calm her down and told her to focus on one thing at the time, like first serves and return.
If he threw a lot of tactical stuff to her, she wouldn't do anyway, she was very nervous and not thinking straight.
Anyway, it was a good end of season, after her break up with Vlado, I wasn't expecting anything and she got to the final of a tournament she watches since a kid defeating very good players.
I can't wait to see her in 2018!
Btw, she told to Russian press she will start her season in Brisbane.

That was not Dasha's best tennis, but Goerges might have won no matter what.
Anyway, a final is Moscow is good, and next year I'd like to see some runs at the bigger events

I can't say I'm surprised , that the Kasatkina we know against the big hitters. She gives them the perfect ball to punish her.She will always have trouble if she wants to stay in her confort zone against them.

After a bad start of the year, the 2nd part was good. The 2nd year is always difficult and at the end she won a Premier, reached a 2nd week at a GS and will finish the years at her Carrer High: 24.

She has retrieved her level of play which is enough to be ranked between 16-24.Now everyone knows the gap she has to cross to become a top player.

I liked her new coach OCC, he repeated the same things during the whole tournament:

-Be more agressive in the 1st shot(Serve go for it /return be more close from the baseline an go for it)
-Trust yourself
-You're the one who must dictate the point
-Play with more intensity

So he knows exactly what she needs to improve during the Off Season.I said it at the start of the year for me 2018 is the season where this generation has to step up.

It's hard to beat peaking Görges, when you give her so much time to set up her devastating shots. Darya needs to work on her return position and her willingness to take risks in general.

Overall she has shown some improvement compared to the last months, but unfortunately she became more passive again in her last matches. I hope her new coach will keep working on making Dasha a more aggressive player. Her exceptional skills will only come into complete effect with a more offensive mindset.

Well Julia too good today. Dasha wasnt on her usual level as well and couldnt find a way back in the match. Good lesson but as said before she made quite good improvements lately and is getting more consistent so more will come for sure.

Dasha was too nervous today, and she had a total offday. But I'm really proud of Dasha. She has made unprecedented steps since the US Open. I also have a lot of confidence in the collaboration with DeHaes.

Good tournament for Dasha. But I would be unsatisfied if she loses tomorrow.

For me she's really a mix of both and if she had 1/4 of what they had in common: the champion mindset, I would call her Fedal.

Still a lot of room for improvement, though. In particular, her serve still looks like a massive liability. Fortunately for her, Begu was an UE machine for most of the match (over 40 UEs in only 17 games). Some of those errors were the result of Darya's outstanding defensive skills, but I'd like to see her play more proactive tennis in the final. I know she can do it.

She also tends to have a very defensive (and very Nadal-esque) return stance, and this is what annoyed me today. In the second set especially, when Begu's serving was clearly hindered by her shoulder injury and she was basically rolling her first serve in, I would have liked to see Darya attack those puffballs. Instead, she chose to stand 3 kilometers behind the baseline, Nadal-style, and her returns typically landed too short to cause any damage.
She drives me crazy with that.

Against Katka and Pavs, she was very agressive on her serve on conceded few Break points and on return she showed so many times that she can take the ball early and hit winners DTL or inside out.On the other side she had trouble because she's pushing on 1st serve or return so many times.

I can't understand why she chooses the losing option, that make no sense.

Too bad, she does not play Vikhlyantseva, it would be the dream final. But more so, good luck

Dasha plays Goerges in the final. Up to 22 in the race and I wonder if she makes the YEC-B if she wins on Saturday?
If she gets in and plays well she can end 2017 in the top 15
