Wow, great opportunity for a premier F. On paper, you'd think Dasha has the kind of game that would frustrate Goerges into a lot of errors.

Gavrilova wins 7-5 4-6 6-3, she will play Goerges in the semi

Always seems to enjoy/thrive when playing in front of a home crowd.

Keep up the good work Dasha - one more win will guarantee you're seeded at AO.

Oh - as well as a career high lol

Another win to Dasha, leading 6-4 3-0 when CSN retired. Pavlyuchenkova or Jankovic next.

Dasha keeps her good run going with a 2 and 2 victory over Safarova in Moscow. Another revenge win in the offering, against Suarez Navarro in round 2.

Shame for Daria not making it to the final but she had a good late season run.

^ I saw the match on Foxsports and wondered why the crowd was a bit one-sided.

Mladenovic really made her pay if she dropped the ball short. Fought very hard though. That last game where she missed three break points by not making a return on three 2nd serves was

a real shame. Dasha goes down 7/5 6/3. Serve was quite poor I felt. As usual the HK crowd is against the Aussies....David Campese once pissed off the Hong Kong people at a 7's match and they have never forgotten nor forgiven us. Weird eh?

Re: Aussies in WTA events

We should at least give some credit to Dasha and not just say it just a 'tank'. Whether Angie was switched on or not, she at least took the opportunity to beat a world number one when it was there.

God knows when this last happened.... though with the merry-go-round of the number one mantle in some years.... Sam probably did it during her clay court runs around 2010-11.

Potential rematch with Mladenovic wonder if it would be as dramatic as Melbourne
Probably a tank?

Still a good result/scalp even if Kerber was switched off and not her normal self.
