Not all of them - don't forget the Davis Cup.

No because Azarenka won which was bad and Murray lost which was good.

Yes it does. BBC 2 makes for a guaranteed audience in the hundreds of thousands, some people will be watching it just because that is what the TV is showing. The poster I was replying to seemed to allege that no-one watched other than this board. You need to understand the context of a reply sometimes.

Also the BBC has shown the women's final on one of their two flagship channels for years. They would have ditched it by now if there was no audience, or sold/not taken up the rights like they did with the French Open Finals, an event which Serena doesn't regularly feature in incidentally.

I only saw bibs and bobs of the AO this year - concentrating on other things.

With regard to the finals both were a little lacklustre, but the women's had more drama, and the outcome was less certain for the major part of the match - something the men's wasn't after Novak won the 2nd set. As for enjoyment, as I didn't really care who won I wasn't as caught up in emotion as I have been previously.

I thought the mens final wasn't that great, considering I started getting tired after set two and wanted to sleep after that. The womens wasnt great either with the shit crowd, but drama wise it definitely had the upper-hand and Li Na made me laugh, which is good enough for me

Re: AO13: So would you say the women's final was more enjoyable than the men's?

I enjoyed the men's more, overall it was a better match. I enjoy Djokovic- murray more than Murray-Nadal. At least Novak comes to the net sometimes and is willing to go for winners. Murray and Nadal just wait for opponent errors most of the time. I still quite like Murray though, because he can bring some great skill. I don't miss Nadal on the tour at all. Djokovic- Federer would have been the best match IMO.

Women's was good for drama, but was a bit of a mess! So sad for Li Na, but also felt sorry for Vika with the appalling crowd. That bullying kinda spoiled it for me.

Re: AO13: So would you say the women's final was more enjoyable than the men's?

Undoubtedly, but that's not saying much. Djokovic-Murray is an horrific match up for men's tennis, with both of them cancelling themselves out throughout, and unable to hit outright winners without making a shit-load of errors first.

Na-Azarenka had some lovely ball-striking (especially from the former), but it was only relatively more enjoyable than the men's final. Especially with all the injury problems with Li which made it NID.

Men's was boring, i get tired of it after second set and turned it off in the middle of third, on the other hand Women's was more dramatic and enjoyable

Re: AO13: So would you say the women's final was more enjoyable than the men's?

Both finals were pretty average and I'm certainly glad I didn't get up early for the start of the men's. The women's final at least had a bit of drama with Vika as the pantomime villain, a near knock out, and lovely fireworks.

I didn't really care who won either match so that takes away half the fun for me too.

I really hope the season improves from here.

As for the matches, there was no comparison. Novak was amazing. I don't think the equal pay issue will go away as the gulf between the two Tours is widening with each tournament.

i'd say yes (despite the wrong outcome). not that the women's final was great by any means, but the men's final was terrible.
