sav001 Just checked the Foxtel guide. They will be showing Wimbledon over 2 channels this year.

Seven are definitely showing Wimbledon this year. They sent out a press release a week ago and they have started promos for it 2 weeks ago.

Re: AUS TV - 2011 Coverage

I hope that doesn't mean we're relying solely on Woodbridge and channel 7 for Wimbledon tv coverage

I'm surprised by the SBS part of it too as I can't recall them showing any tennis since the late 90s.
Look like Foxtel might not be showing Wimbledon this year. They haven't sent out any press releases yet and theres no mention of it on their website or Facebook page.

I wonder if they will still show Aussies ahead of everyone else. As I said I hope they have better commentators than Sam Gore and Kevin Skinner

I think its better that its on ESPN as we will get much more coverage. For the French Fox Sports had only one channel showing it and most of the time they were showing Aussies with some big matches not shown at all.

sav001 Yep good pick up for SBS. Their coverage starts with the Quarterfinals. They will be showing the quarters, semis and finals live Australia wide.

sav001 ESPN has secured Australian and New Zealand broadcast rights to the US*Open tennis tournament, in a five-year deal with United States Tennis Association. ESPN*will have 150 hours of live television across ESPN and ESPN2, plus a record 1,300 hours streaming on WatchESPN with matches from up to 12 courts.

SBS will also show it on Free to Air TV.

Foxtel already shows Wimbledon. Seven only has the pick of what they think will be the best two matches of the day, otherwise Foxtel is free to show all the other matches.

The government has also decided to cut back the list of major sporting events which free-to-air broadcasters get first dibs on, removing the soccer World Cup, Wimbledon tennis and the US Masters golf from it.
