Somehow it ended up being 339 instead, lol. But she is up to 323 in the live rankings thanks to the 10 points from Madrid. She just needs to win one match in Rome qualifying to get into the top 300!

This would be tough even with Laura fully matched fit. Not only is Vika possibly the best player on tour right now, but she is also good against lefty and loves to exploit players who have poor movement. Laura hit some beautiful shots though  and even hit a couple of aces towards the end. I think it would help if she could get a few more first nerves in play. I know everyone says that, but looking at the stats, I think that was the main down full for Laura, along with the poor movement.

Now she just needs to start playing like that against everybody else and she will be back.
Exactly. If she can continue to play like this she will soon be back in WTA tournaments as of right. As others have said though she tends to bring her best game to the big matches so once her SRs run out she needs to remain motivated to get her ranking up so that she doesn't have to play the ITFs any more. Clearly she still has the game, it's largely psychological and lack of match play.

Just the Madrid court conditions helped her alot in this match, slices and drop shots just sits up. Too bad this court can't be everywhere.

Her break point conversion was also very bad, but I think that's just a sign of lack of match fitness.

Need to enjoy this, this might be her last match against a top class player for a long while, Get that mode on . Vika will hit plenty of drop shots though

nijoco Obviously won't until after wimbledon now with all the handouts but it's really time she went back to ITF level events and worked on rebuilding her game and mental strength because you won't do that against top players all the day. How much feel can she really get for her game being battered time and time again. Stop being stubborn and pig headed laura and work on your game instead of expecting the world to give you something!

It's a really unlucky draw. Let's hope she can put up a decent show because receiving a couple of bakery products, even if they are from Azarenka, isn't going to do much for her confidence, nor will it help with getting much match play.

Losing to Vika is certainly a lot better than losing to someone like Tsurenko or Gasparyan.

True. Another plus is the match should be streamed, I would think...
