Re: Polish tournaments (national and international) thread

I thought the four 15k's in Mragowo would be men only, so great news
Zawada is very likely to be back but it's not going to be better than the two upcoming 25k+H anyway, that's what I meant. There was this 75k Sobota in 2014-2015, this was encouraging but after two editions it was already over.

Good news is there's a new 25k+H in Warsaw in late June, right before 25k+H Torun Well, Poland won't host anything better in 2017...
in august there are four 15k tournaments in mragowo now and i think zawada is gonna be back in nov, right?

theoretically she could also enter roehampton that starts on the 2nd, if she doesnt make the final in torun... and i think she will not... not in warsaw and not in torun...

Kasia Piter (prio 4), Magda Frech (prio 3), Paula Kania (prio 3) and Kasia Kawa (prio 1) have all entered 25k+H Warsaw (June 19-25).
Zaniewska, Swiatek, Chwalinska, Lesniak, Jegiolka also there, all with prio 1.

25k Toruń has been slightly upgraded to 25k+H. A bit better in order to match the competition with a 50k and 4 other European 25k's on the very same week...

Re: Polish tournaments (national and international) thread

Yes, at the Legia Club (like the two last Warsaw Open editions) For now the Polish ITF calendar looks like this:

- $10,000 Warsaw, 23 May - 29 May 2016
- $10,000 Szczawno-Zdrój, 30 May - 5 June 2016
- $10,000 Puszczykowo, 6 June - 12 June 2016
- $25,000 Toruń, 27 June - 3 July 2016

Still no confirmation for 75k Sobota. I've read somewhere they were planning to set it on the last week of July this year but there's still nothing on the official calendars...

Re: Polish tournaments (national and international) thread

Shoshyna has been training in Poland for years, and since the champs are not open to Polish citizens only, I don't see the problem here. Shoshyna will make better use of the WC than all the Poles she literally thrashed en route to the title would have done anyway. Let's be honest, all these PL players struggle to make it past 10k qualies week in week out... I'm not against giving them a chance but they're not quite ready for this level right now.
Swiatek and Chwalinska look more promising by far, it's true, but since they are only 14 they better take some time to develop a little bit more. No emergency They have never really had the opportunity to face pro level so far and they are still a bit young to enter WTA events, that could be a good experience but a quite harsh one too.

I would give QWC to players like Kawa, Piter and Zaniewska (if she turns out to be fit again someday) first, then maybe Frech (but she's not going to play in Katowice this year as she's making an Asian swing at the moment) or why not Jegiolka who played well there last year. Maybe one youngster but no more for now. Swiatek and Chwalinska in the upcoming years if they remain as promising as they are currently.

Still no 25k Torun nor 75k Sobota in July on the latest PZT calendar (updated a week ago)...

Re: Polish tournaments (national and international) thread

i don't understand how shoshyna could play polish championships and get a wc for the md, she is ont even polish?!?!?!? or did she change her nationality?

also how can you give falkowska a qwc? yes, she won polish champs, but she is by far not a top polish junior player!!! wc should have went to swiatek and chwalinska...

what do you think?

Re: Polish tournaments (national and international) thread

MDWC for 25k Zawada have been handed out to Grajdek (#771), Cvorovic (unranked), Silka (unranked but young Pole at least) and Stepan (unranked) This tournament is really a mess when it comes to help for local players. Even Jegiolka who comes from a city near Opole has been forced to play qualies for years. At least Chwalinska got a QWC...

Re: Polish tournaments (national and international) thread

Aga in Katowice MD list, Magda and Ula in Q list.
No Kania and Piter, they are both going to play in Charleston instead

One MDWC has been awarded to Magdalena Frech already. Some others still to be announced.
