Re: Ashleigh Barty

I don't think Ash is back to be a part time tennis player slash doubles specialist. She may not have set the world on fire during her first singles career, but given the mental strain she was under that's not all that surprising. Besides, she was only 18 when she retired. She's had time to think things over and I don't think she would return if she wasn't prepared to commit fully this time.

But it will take time. This year is all about finding her feet and getting her mind and body ready to compete with the top players. She is smart enough not to push for too much too soon. It will be tough because she's small, but Cibulkova is smaller and she reached a slam final. Ash has more talent than Domi IMO

Yeah she worked as a kid's tennis coach for awhile: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/19/sp...turn.html?_r=0

Yeah that's what I thought too, but I've never read an actual source, it was just mentioned on here. Iirc Barty was doing some working as a tennis coach?

Jess Moore worked at Fitness First...
I don't believe Ash ever did?

Re: Ashleigh Barty

She is so talented she should play both sports. Most of the year she travels the itf circuit, peaking for slam doubles. Then after US Open when cricket season starts, she can rejoin the team environment and unburden her depression. She can also work at Fitness First over the summer to get some money for tennis travel. This way she is never in one world long enough to lose inspiration.

She will need to do a lot of conditioning if she wants to get back into the Top 300

Apart from the first big knock not much in BBL, though she didn't get a decent hit always batting low in the order.

Although:
"In Brisbane grade cricket, Barty’s 11 matches, a mixture of Twenty20, one-day and two-day games, were a resounding success.

She scored 429 runs at an average of 47.67 to be the leading scorer in the competition by 50 runs."

Re: Ashleigh Barty

So, according to that article she will partner Casey for the second Perth ITF and make her singles comeback at Mildura

I agree but I guess it is a good time to come back with next AO in about 11 months .

Re: Ashleigh Barty

After Ash quit tennis, I started playing tennis for the first time and training hard, her shock decision probably encouraged me... And now a week after starting a dream job, she returns to tennis. Loving 2016
