It wasn't pretty to watch, but I felt bad for her. She's a much better player than what she showed against Halep. Something was clearly wrong--whether she was still sick from Indian Wells or not, I'm not sure, but she looked like she didn't have much energy. Her serving was all over the place, and she had a ton of errors. She must have perked up a little in the second set because she managed to make it a three set match.

I was hoping she would win because I wanted to see a match between Lisicki and Paszek in R2.

On the other hand, she looked more herself when I saw her a few days later practicing the morning of her first doubles match with Jarka.

Of course I'm dissapointed again. And if you look at the statistics: Just around 30 % of the points with second serve - that's definetly very bad. So she's out of the top 40 again right now.

But the good thing is: Even if she didn't play very good she fought and was close to win. So I think she shouldn't lose too much confidence.

And for Charleston: New surface for all players, so all the other players won't play their top level as well. And after Charleston nothing to defend until Wimbledon. She should take the oppurtunities she has right now, otherwise it could go down very deep after Wimbledon...

And that's a succesive process, like we're seeing (since 2009)...
Well, we know the reasons. After the ankle injury in Charleston her clay season was gone and the abdominal strain after Wimbledon pretty much ruined the remaining part of her saison.

Really unfortunate that she couldn't pull it off and got another zero pointer. Al least she hasn't played that bad if you look at her stats. Tough to lose like this but still better than losing 2 and 1. And you can't expect her to win every three setter after she won two in Pattya/Memphis. Besides, Halep wasn't that absolute must-win anyway as Sabine has beaten top 60 players just four times since Wimbledon last year. She played two fairly good turneys now, where she got the same number of wins she got from Charleston till the end of last season in 7 months. So I do think she's on a good way back after her poor last season. But obviously, that won't happen overnight. Skipping IW wasn't a big deal for her but she should stay healthy over the clay season now, with Charleston, Katowice, Stuttgart, RG looming. Otherwise this would be a setback again.

One SECOND serve hit the back fence ten feet off the ground, and that is not an exaggeration. Whatever was wrong with her, and I hope she can use an illness as an excuse, it was not a good performance.
Ouch.
