Never having seen her play, and even more, lack of familiarity with tennis from that era.

There's also some 'don't like her as a commentator, so I won't give her due respect as a player'.

And not to to go too sociological on you, but a blatantly sexual woman who's going to be 60 years old in a couple weeks weirds out a lot of people. Even better, she doesn't care. She says and does whatever she wants. (Funny thing, saying and doing whatever she wants has worked out pretty good for an 18 slam singles winner named Serena Williams too.)

Actually you have big tennis I.Q going along with different kind of games. Some baseline players without much variety can show a remarkable IQ in doing the right thing to win each point, basically.

You have the Suzanne Lenglen style and the Helen Wills style, both intelligent players using respective abilities to their best. In that respect I'm not sure Evert (who I voted for) shows more IQ than Navratilova who knew what she had to do with her own game and was certainly effective tactically.

Actually the best IQ may belong to players showing less variety: managing to win with the least amount of talent or power. The best IQ belongs to the player observing her opponent, and adapting her game to the opponent, to annoy her the best, give her trouble, and get the best over.

Who are these players?

1. Aga
2. Martina Hingis/Navratilova
3. Serena/Graf
4. Kim/Justine
5. Halep/Vika

At least the bottom of the list is obvi***cough*pova*cough***ous.

It's your thread, and I'm happy you provided a definition, but in the abstract, HAVING variety is no indication of Tennis IQ.

Lindsay Davenport always seemed to me to be a very smart player, but she displayed a remarkably limited repertoire. She did all the right things with what she used, but there was NOT much variety. To make the obvious comparison, her on-court decision making was better than Sharapova's. But Sharapova used her off-court time to turn into a far better clay court player than Davenport ever was.

Different strengths in similar players.

Conversely, Patty Schnyder could hit every shot in the book. Yet there was little indication she wa doing more than throwing stuff at the wall and waiting to see what would stick. Ana Ivanovic can hit every shot in the book. But tennis IQ in a tough spot? It's nowhere.

No contest: Martina Hingis has the highest tennis IQ.

I have a guess who would be #1 or #2 if included in the poll.

Although I have always been a Justin hater, I believe her tennis IQ is slightly underrated in this poll result.
