What a dubious honour!

I agree that Laura must be compromised in some way. Her first serve percentage was much better in this match. But on returning she was making almost no inroads into Katy's second serve. Rare to see a player winning 75% of their second serve points. So well done to Katy, and more work for Laura to do.

Terrible returning and terrible serving. Yet she somehow managed to win four games... Down 5-3 in both sets and looked like she might be able to comeback both times...but it wasn't to be.

Gratz to Katy though.

What do you mean about an injury?
The scoreboard indicated MTO at a couple of points in set 1. Delays weren't excessive so possibly just a gremlin. If not, I was trying to tie in the injury with Laura's breathtakingly poor returning and came up with something utterly implausible. (Because it would have involved an off court MTO which would have taken forever.)

Laura lost 4-6 4-6 terrible returning, some injury or something on SB?

Moving on to next week.

[1]Mestach/Sanchez def. Robson/Christie 7-6(3) 6-3 in the doubles yesterday.

Having this LL spot will mean Laura has played four days in a row. Which is great for keeping her match fit.

It's a better situation than losing a match and not having another match until 2/3 weeks time. Especially when trying to regain some form again.

Thanks Kevin. It's good to know that Laura is at least working hard in practice but it's just that it's not translating to improvement in matches yet. I think especially with her playing style, it must be hard not to be tentative. When I saw her play in Eastbourne, she was frequently hitting very close to the lines and it paid off when she made the shots. But when she wasn't you could tell she was really annoyed about it and spiralling down a slippery slope of negativity.

It's going to be hard but I think Laura is willing to work for it....but I am not quite sure what the limit will be...

I'll take 14.

Good to get another match in.
She needs to get as many matches in as she can and hope the rhythm comes back.

It's not compulsory but there are times that when things get so bad, you can laugh about it. Laura's situation is becoming dire and when you get people looking at the real time score and thinking 'I don't believe what I am seeing', it is time to take a light hearted view of the situation.

Do we have to do this?

For the sake of saying something, I'll say it'll be the same as the last match against a Brit: 1 ace, 15 double faults.
