Good luck to Dasha. Hopefully, she beats the servebot.

Upset Timea, 63 57 64, to defend her fourth round points!

Now Karo Pliskova. Has some work to do: is 0-2 against her without taking a set. GL to Dasha!

Now a funny pic I made of "Dasha" pouting because of a slob fan

It's a GIF in very low quality on this forum but the poster is available in maxi quality on the website!
I love her but also love Timea Bacsinszky (I live in the same town as her), so next match gonna be a heartbreaker :-(

Bested Ana, 62 16 64

One round away from matching her performance from last year! Timea Bacsinszky is next. Dasha is 2:0 against her.

If she gets past R2, she should reach R4 IMO

(22)Daria Gavrilova v Naomi Broady
Ana Konjuh v Kristina Mladenovic
Danka Kovinic v Saisai Zheng
Camila Giorgi v (12)Timea Bacsinszky

GL to her! Has 4th round points to defend. 1-all against Naomi, but 1-0 on hardcourt.

Re: Daria Gavrilova

I'm interested to see how Dasha goes in Sydney - opens against a qualifier.

I think she struggled with the pressure of being defending champion at the Hopman Cup and didn't play to her ability. A good experience for her heading into the AO where she will be seeded for the first time in her career and will have high expectations off the back of last year's 4th Rd run.

Hopefully she can keep her emotions in check, that's the key.

Re: Daria Gavrilova

Dasha began her year playing Hopman Cup. Although it wasn't that great a start to the new year, Dasha had her best year on tour in 2016, getting to a career high ranking of #24.

Not a great start to the Summer by Dasha. Was beaten quite handily by Lara's all round game.
I think it's good that she finds these weaknesses. I feel this aspect was exploited by Chirico in Madrid, Mladenovic in HK and now Lara. People can rush and pressure her by coming in, especially off her weaker backhand side. If she can maintain good depth and control while not losing too much baseline, will help her game a lot.

I guess Nicole has her own duties now as Head of Tennis Australia.
However the coach I saw with her at Hong Kong and Moscow seemed very helpful.
I also got the impression that Pratt was working with Tennis Australia on development - I guess she developed Dasha and got her to a Top 25 ranking! Time to work on some other young ozzies, and there seems to be some really promising ones coming up. But Dasha's new coach seemed really great.
