Re: Christina McHale

This was a tough loss. She had Muguruza on the ropes and couldn't finish her.

It happens too regularly for Christina in those big moments. She gets really defensive, stops swinging. Needs some sports psychology assistance to help her relax and focus. I hate to say that her reputation as a poor frontrunner is warranted but the evidence is there.

Ah, so close. Christina was 6-0 2-0 up on Muguruza, the rain came at 6-0 3-2 (with a break) up, they restarted the next day and she did get to 4-2 up and had a single match point in the second set tiebreaker but missed a makeable backhand return of serve.

From the highlights it seemed Christina was moving very well. Some positive signs despite the loss, but still a missed opportunity.

In the end, lost 6-0 6-7(8) 4-6.

Well Rodina has a 1-0 record but also lost in qualies to Barthel so .

Apparently Christina was up *4-2 in the first. She had a really long game that went to deuce several times. Then she eventually lost the game and, seemingly, the plot. Kucova starts treeing but it's all going in and she's barely missing a first serve. Christina didn't win another game. Serve deserted her. Only got eight points in set 2.
