Yeah CC has stands. Court 1 and 2 are sort of beside it and open so you can literally just walk up to the side of them.

Same with the practice courts. They are in a long row on the other side of the venue and there's no real barriers. Good for taking photos and saying hi to your faves.

Hope she will play some WTA tournaments since there are going to be some decent players go to those ITF 100Ks, So why not try some WTAs? lol

I went to Notts two years ago, mainly to see Aga. Konta was there. Greg Rusedski showed up mid-afternoon. And Katie Boulter was sat right behind me (and I wasn't sure who she was at the time). It's a nice place. Felt like a big complex, very spread out compared to Birmingham. I was really hoping to see Konjuh play as well but it rained just before her match and play got called for the day.

Re: Return Winner: The Laura Robson support thread.

Aww, decided to watch the ceremony first, and how nice that Laura and Katie were sitting together afterwards.

Must've been nice for both to talk to a compatriot in a tournament far away from home, and one where both have been playing Japanese players all week - so it must've been nice to be able to have a natter about the match afterwards, as if it was Laura against Shimizu for example, she wouldn't have been able to have done that.

Having now been in the lounge since mid 2015 (and having had a cheeky scroll back a few times to see some posts from 2012-14 ) I think this is the happiest Laura's lounge has been since 2013

She might hope she is but we don't

Re: Return Winner: The Laura Robson support thread.

She had to be respectful to the tournament organisers, so "I hope to be back next year" is the standard response.

I thought it was a bird but you could be right. I loved the way it turned towards the photographers when they were doing the photoshoot. I think there should be one at wimbledon.

Yeah, it's pretty standard for players to say that "I hope to be back next year". I don't think she knew what else to say.

The ceremony wasn't very exciting, but here are some bits of it anyway: https://streamable.com/e5afe
How many gifts did they give her? They just kept coming.

I've seen ITF ceremonies before where the rising star winner said 'I hope I'm not back next year'. But I guess I hope I'll be back is the polite thing to say.

Cheap it isn't however!
It's a long time now since I went to Birmingham. It was very nice from what I remember. Sharapova was playing that year so they had star names but overall the tournament was obviously smaller than it is now (hence the price increase I assume). There was a very nice intimacy to the grounds and the players all mingled with the fans. Don't know if it's still like that but I hope so. I remember the crepe van was very popular with spectators and players alike. And of course, being Britain, it rained in the afternoon.
