Re: Caroline Garcia

who is that girl??? this caroline is not the same as we can see on the tour

it must be the "fed cup effect" but God what she did to take the break and lead 6.5 in this 2nd set
she went for it and took it from the annoying italian player and all this crowd cheering loudly for her

I hope she'll take all the positive vibes from this fed cup experience, after kristina nightmare against giorgi SHE HAD TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN
She did it and so RESPECT

Hope tomorrow Kristina to beat Errani and Caro giving the tie point to the team

Caro wins 63 75.

She was so clutch in her last service game.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Caro gets the break with a FH return winner.

63 *65 vs. Errani.

Serve it out now!

Re: Caroline Garcia

Yeah, if anything that match was acted as a detriment to Caro's career. She showed her talent at a very young age on a big stage and has had the pressure and hype behind her since.

This has been going on ever since Murray's (in)famous comments during her match against Sharapova at the 2011 FO, and that was over four and a half years ago. She was close to achieving a breakthrough, but ended up self-destructing mentally because she got too nervous. How many times has that happened since?

Re: Caroline Garcia

Yeah, she is not Federer who can take the ball that early.

Caro needs to play more to her strengths rather than trying to be a player that she is not. She is talented enough to play a more varied game than she does.

I agree with the comments about her needing a slam breakthrough.

And this is why her “stepping-into –the-court approach” makes no sense at all. Additionally, she doesn’t have the appropriate technique (especially on the forehand side) to execute this kind of return of serve.

In general, I think her lack of anticipation is caused by her tightness in competitive situations. It’s simply hard to stay in the flow during a match when you get as nervous as Caroline.

I agree with all the comments that were made in here in the aftermath of her defeat. I think what she urgently needs is a breakthrough match at a slam; a match that she turns around in dramatic fashion despite being on the brink of defeat. This kind of battle would maybe transform her mentality and self-belief.

Re: Caroline Garcia

It isn't an awful loss when you digest it. I was just really wanting a Caro-Garbine match that i was disappointed not to get it. Also given how she played in HC and Sydney i thought she would do well.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Strycova had higher ranking than Caro during almost the whole 2015 season. It's not like "she had to win for sure" i am not ok. Strycova can be very tricky opponent, and i think she had less pressure than Caro i GS. She is not on grand slam of losing 1st round of GS like Caro.... it's really not like the loss against Vekic, this one was more unsure, players had same rankings or not so far. Strycova has two faces, and against Caroline she was really focus and did not so much ue. Caroline had to go for the game, Strycova did not give points.
I think Strycova is a player seeds are happy to not face in 1st round of GS, like Cibulkova or Bouchard. She might be seeded few weeks ago.
I hope she will work hard, again and again. But i am confident for this new season. Well, i don't expect so much in GS, but one day she will be very good in GS, for sure. She just needs more time, but we can't make any conclusion about ONE match she did wrong actually. She did very well in Hopman Cup, she did very well in Sydney during one match and against Halep it was more up and down, but not so bad. So lets see what will happen in next tournaments.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Let's be honest, Strycova was MUCH better than Garcia. She really has a long way to go... what is worrying is that she really doesn't move well around the court and seems to lack that natural anticipation, so her defensive skills are very limited (and defense is CRUCIAL nowadays).

Re: Caroline Garcia

Well i am not ready to give up on her in that sense. I still believe she will make it. I mean Stan Wawrinka went from mental midget to 2x slam champion and winning 8 straight finals or something daft so i still believe in Caro.

Strycova is a tricky player but yes she should have won. I agree that she will be better off being unseeded but she needs to watch her ranking doesn't slip so far that she doesn't make main draws of tournaments.

Caro has had some good form from Limoges into the new year so i guess we were due a poor loss

In 2nd set she was closer from Strycova but didn't manage to win big points. She just play like Strycova like so it couldn't work. She didn't serve so well neither (except first 2 games). I think she put on herself too much pressure right now, and i don't think next GS will change something as it is RG...
Well i don't want her to be seeded, i better like when she draws (and lost) a big player rather than Strycova or Vekic or Watson and lost anyway.
I still think she has to work with someone else than daddy to really evolve.
Will be 37 in best case, and i don't know what is her next tournament but not before mi-fev i think. I guess she is in qualies in Dubai week of 15fev (maybe alt 4-6 for MD), and she will only play Fed Cup until there.
Merci to make it clear. We all agree here, she shouldnt lose to the like of Strykova. Watching her match won't help if mentally she 's still so vulnerable. Every player can feel frustration but the best are those who push it away and find solutions to play better on crucial points.

even if she 's not seeded at RG she'll find a way to lose to the 1st scrub she'll play. Really fed up about her right now. When you think she may get into the next level, she loses badly and disappoint even more.

since she doesnt see the emergency to change something she'll stay like that --> a top40 player with some flash of brillance here and there but nothing more

I would be VERY surprise if she can make it to top20 one day, she doesnt believe in herself enough to do so.
