She plays today the doubles final and tomorrow RG round 1. Hope she has energy left.

Shame Ash lost to Dasha. I thought she was going to win that tie-break. But not to worry. That backhand let her down today.

^ I have a feeling she would have to beat 2 Aussies to win the singles title

Quite impressive to have 3 Aussies in the QF of a WTA tournament. Bet it hasn't happened in a long time

Re: Ashleigh Barty

Ash doing so well this week! Has made the dubs final too.

So if by some miracle, she wins the dubs final and gets the singles title, she'll have won a singles/doubles double twice this year, with both singles wins coming as a qualifier. Now if anyone else has ever done that ever, I'll eat my hat.

Re: Ashleigh Barty

This is a different Ash for sure. I still think she can improve in a lot of areas, but one thing she has developed is maturity and getting out of trouble in serve.

She didn't play amazing but still won with a dominating score line against dangerous opponent.

Don't count your eggs yet, Dasha's just lost her second set.

Not exactly a scintillating performance - but very calm, measured, mature and smart

Great win 63 60

Doing well, 6-3 1-0, with an early break.

I don't like this term, but it's hard not to categorise Giorgi as a ballbasher

Re: Ashleigh Barty

If Ash can relentlessly defend her serve, she can win this match imo.

Already 2-0 up

Re: Ashleigh Barty

Ash is due on in ten minutes. Giorgi put out the second seed so is probably playing pretty well.

Ash and Casey came from behind in the doubles.

C'mon Ash now take down Giorgi.

Milan. Glad she improved her claycourt game.
