Wow that looks very good. Not showing the night matches live has irked me for years with Eurosport.

There are numerous pages of this thread missing.

EDIT: I'm thinking of the ES won't show tennis outside Slams thread.

Well that's one major advance on Eurosport - BT will actually show live tennis through the night which Eurosport would almost never do outside the Aussie Open.

Re: BT Vision to gain WTA Rights In UK

The newly launched BT sports channels launches on August 1st and will be a massive boost to fans of women's tennis. BT sport pledges to show 800 hours of the WTA tour from 21 countries including Indian Wells, Miami, Beijing and Istanbul. In 2013 BT sport will share the rights with Eurosport but in 2014 will be the exclusive owner to the rights. So here's the guide on the tennis action on the new channel shown in the first four days of launch which is covering the Southern Californian open:-

BT Sport 2
23:00 LIVE WTA Tennis
01:00 WTA All Access
01:30 World of Tennis
03:00 LIVE WTA Tennis

FRIDAY 2nd AUGUST
BT Sport 2
22:30 LIVE WTA Tennis
04:00 LIVE WTA Tennis

SATURDAY 3rd AUGUST
BT Sport 2
21:30 LIVE WTA Tennis
03:00 LIVE WTA Tennis

SUNDAY 4th AUGUST
BT Sport 1

Re: BT Vision to gain WTA Rights In UK

Yer I didn't notice this slip under the radar. This is a terrible terrible decision. Very very few people will subscribe to BT Vision for the tennis. The only vague saving grace is BT Vision will get a lot of new subscribers due to Premier League football. However when all is said and done less than 20% of people who have access to Eurosport will have access to BT Vision. Alienating your fan base simply isn't the way forward. And womens tennis will probably lose more ground on mens tennis in this country as a result of this at a time it should have been gaining ground (as a result of Heather and Laura).

Though given we're weeks away and have heard nothing from anyone it would make sense for BT to have bought them since why bother mentioning it until closer to the launch of the channel in Summer.

If they do have the rights they could always resell them for the next 6 months at a cheap price just to get some money for them - that's what Channel 4 are doing for the World Athletics Champs next year - maybe British Eurosport would take them.
Someone has bought the rights, but there's no obligation on them to announce it until they want to. If it was Sky/Eurosport/ESPN, then it would most likely be announced by them. BT might well be happy to sit on it until much closer to their launch, meaning we might not see any WTA prems until the American summer swing. Agreed, reselling the rights to UK Eurosport until the summer makes sense, but maybe they can't/don't wish to.

Oh, I have no problem with that. I'm planning on getting BT Vision. At least the deal has been made and finalised.

and we are developing new ways of bringing enhanced coverage of major events to your televisions in the future.
By this, I presume they mean the App that's now available for Smart TV's that lets you watch the live streams & clips from the BBC Sport website on the TV via Wifi.
