^ I agree too. Cricketers (except some topline bowlers) aren't usually the fittest athletes on the planet.

It's important that when she does come back, she's able to back-up for a series of matches/tournies and avoid injuries.

^ I agree. If she had trained hard before the 'announcement' then you could expect she'd jump straight back into it. Instead it looks like (through the hiring of a personal trainer) she's made the decision to come back and then had to get back into better shape for singles.

Re: Ashleigh Barty

Maybe she feels she isn't in the condition she'd like to be for singles yet. It's much more physical than doubles.

I'm sure after trying their hearts out at the Fed Cup, all the negative attention from the public and press on the Fed Cup team, can't be too encouraging for Barty to make a quick comeback. Such things may scare her and throw her back into the more protected life of a cricket sports woman.

Yes, it is but she was doing the samething before her break.

I don't have any clear idea of what her plans are, but Nicole said that Ash would like to play on grass and that there are other options as well. There really isn't anything I am reading in rest of the article that suggests that her plan for re-entry is definitively focused on getting into a grass tournament. More like that they are checking out what is possible on the grass, as one possible option

If she wanted to start singles on grass, then she should have played Mildura. Not everyone is going to run round giving out WCs to cater for her preferences
Last year even some of those grass UK ITF had unranked players in qualifying. As for WC may be she already has 1 or 2 secured .

This comment makes me think that there is a bit more to her comeback plan than the rest of this article seems to imply:

She will have to take one or two ITF one at some point. Sure a lot of ITF have " bye" but that requires way more planning and waiting for others players to withdraw.

I think she's had enough wildcards for a lifetime, tbh.
