When deb first out it was the jump the shark for the show
Season 6 was weak but when deb finding out it was awful

The peak was when she killed laguerta, so out of character

I heads Michael.c hall said he didn't like the final

Same. I've never had a problem with suspension of disbelief, so i could deal with plot holes or things being unrealistic, but the last season was just a clusterfuck of epic proportions. And it's tainted my view of the whole series.

Re: Dexter

Whenever it is that Showtime decided Dexter was an untouchable hero is when the show jumped shark. When exactly that happened is debatable. Probably the end of Season 2, when the only smart or interesting detective to ever work at Miami metro was killed off.

The show outlived it's premise a long, long time before it reached it's actual conclusion. Showtime is currently doing the same with Nurse Jackie, which also would have been a great 2-3 season series.

Re: Dexter

^^^ la guerta dying = jumping the shark???

she dies in the first book of dexter series, debra knows dexter is serial killer by the first book also.

the great thing about the books is that dexter is centre of the story. all the other characters from miami metro have no real impact on the underlying scheme.

Season 1 & 2 were the best for me...season 3 was a disaster...4 was great...5 was good but Julia Styles irritates me...6 was average & full of holes...7 was good...8 started off well but the quality dropped in the second half of the season.

Re: Dexter

The Wire is less obviously stupid, if only because at no point are the writers actively rooting for the bad guys.

Re: Dexter

Dexter ruined TV for me. I lost my suspension of disbelief. I know I watched shows a lot dumber than Dexter, but it never bothered me. Now I cant stop complaining about plotholes/mistakes. Argh Dexter. Maybe watching The Wire again can cure me.

Re: Dexter

I wonder if the considerable drop off in quality was easier to take if you marathoned the show, rather than watched it over 8 years. I stopped about three episodes into Season 8, and almost completely skipped Season 6. I have no regrets about either of these things.

What Showtime did to Dexter is why Showtime has no credibility and can't be trusted with good shows. I give them one and a half seasons to destroy Masters of Sex.

Re: Dexter

8 season in 3 months.

The show was my obsession of late. Deb(my fav character) dying the in the final episode was heart breaking to watch. I thought Dexter was going to commit suicide & they would both be buried at sea so to speak. The last season was definitely weaker than the previous 2 so a bit of an anti climax. Over all though one of the best shows I ever watched.
