Elena won her Q2 match but lost in FQR to Sabrina Santamaria 16 46. Nine DFs, zero aces -- I did not look at the stats any further than that, but it sounds like our EB was feeling a little desperate out there. Better luck next tournament, kid.

Lena's new ranking: 622. That's a 105 point improvement in one week.
She's playing her Albuquerque 80K Q2 match right now; she beat a WC in Q1.

Aww, heck. I guess she finally ran out of steam in that 2nd set. Lots of tennis this week! At least since it's a 60K she gets a few ranking points for the qualy wins as well as for her one MD win.

What's amazing about it to me is that it came the day after that 3-hour marathon match. Elena has always been so physically fragile that I was sure that was the end of the road for her here. Has she somehow become sturdier in her 30s? Wouldn't that be great if it's true?

Eclipsed What a shame she also withdrew from the $100k in Canada next week which would have been a great opportunity for her to get some bigger points and more confidence given the right draw. Hope it's nothing too serious

She withdrew from next week's 25k in Landisville, too Hopefully it's nothing too serious.

I'm sorry to see that she didn't show up for Ft. Worth qualies.

But her ranking shot up to 717 -- it'll be so much easier to enter tournaments now.

Great fight against a top 200 player - some promising signs for Lena. She's playing qualies at 25k Forth Worth next week, hopefully she can build on her recent form.

That's a big jump--and that was before her R1 win. What will be her ranking now...?

Next up is the 18 year old #2 seed. Looked up her results and she's done well mainly in $25ks, but not against players ranked above 200-300 so we'll see what Elena can do!
That! Talking about such fact as well
