Well, when I saw Valeria's name on the Entry List of this tournament in Turkey, I was so surprised an also so much Happy ! cause it's not that far from my country and It was possible to arrange a trip to there and attend the tournament. So I waited for the withdrawal deadline, and when I saw her name was still on the list, it was a huge happiness for me.
So I searched about that region (the Black Sea Region in north east Turkey, near the border with Georgia) and arranged two flights and a two hours coastal road trip from Trabzon to Arhavi, the city which the tournament was held there.
The first day, she had a Doubles match with Natela Dzalamidze. I COULDN'T BELIEVE MYSELF that I was there and was watching her game REALLY LIVE.
So fortunately she won that match and after that I went to her (thanks to Natela's help) and talked to her.
She was SOOOOOOOOOO warm and kind. and I'm so proud that I'm fan of such a lovely pro tennis player.

And at the end I asked about a photo with her, so this is the result (from my Insta page):

Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!

And she did it

In a match of the brainfarts and chokes, Lera prevailed 36 76(10) 76(5)

In the second set Aksu served for the match at 54, Lera broke, got broken again, but broke back for the tiebreaker. In the tiebreak Lera was 51 down, at least eliminated 3 match points that I know of, before she won the tiebreak 12-10. In the 3rd set she was 24 down, but found herself serving for the match at 54. Then Lera choked, got broken, broke again to serve for the match, but lost serve again for a 3rd set tiebreaker. In there, she closed the match out at 75. Well done, Lera, congratz

After some unsuccesfull weeks in Northern America in singles, she returned to play singles in Europe, this week 60K in Artvin, Turkey

Rnd1 Valeria Savinykh (RUS) d. (1)Sofia Shapatava (GEO) 76(3) 63
Rnd 2 Valeria Savinykh (RUS) d. Michaela Honcova (SVK) 76(2) 61
QF Valeria Savinykh (RUS) d. (7)Cristiana Ferrando (ITA) 75 64
SF Valeria Savinykh (RUS) d. (SR)Vitalia Diatchenko (RUS) 57 75 64

Awesome week, Lera . She plays final later today against Aksu of Turkye, but good chance on her second biggest title of her career in singles. She beat some good players this week, so I am confident, good luck

Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!

Seems that Valeria is on good mood in Doubles with her new partner Hiroko KUWATA (JPN).
After winning two Doubles Title in $25K Winnipeg and $25K Gatineau, this week they reached $60K Lexington, KY Doubles Final, but unfortunately lost 3-6 4-6 !

Wish her all the best on both Singles and Doubles Draws !

Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!

She did not play much off late, but last week she reached the final of a 15K in Santarem, Portugal. She was beaten however in the final by Bucsa of Spain 46 46 .

A good week to reach the final nonetheless!

In doubles she took the title though with Ukranian Strakhova

Still love her smile

Kinda hard to believe "Baby Bepa" is already 26.... She hasn't found the success I think we thought she would a few years ago, at least not yet, but I hope she keeps trying and I wish her well. It'd be nice to see her go further into this 25k tournament, if not win it. Much good fortune to Lera in her match with Xinyun Han today.
