Re: OLYMPIC CHAMPION Monica Puig

lost in straigth sets to Radwanska in QF, but entered top 30 for the very first time !

vamos Pica, a por el top 20 come year end !

Vinci will be her first opponent in Wuhan .... she has to do well there to have a shot at top 20 and maybe playing Zhuhai at the nd of the season, but it will be tricky .. Good luck !

First Asian swing tournament, and already a QF! She fought so hard and somehow turned the match around

Now against the winner of Strycova and Radwanska. Vamos!

Re: OLYMPIC CHAMPION Monica Puig

Monica beats Kvitova again 1-6 6-4 6-4!! Vamos!!

It took a while for Monica to get into the match. Kvitova dominated in the first set and for most part in the 2nd set. But Monica hung in there until she started playing better in the 3rd. Great attitude for sure!

Re: OLYMPIC CHAMPION Monica Puig

I'm not surprised, her preparation wasn't optimal based on the long break between the Gold Medal match and the USO 1R match. I hope the sting of the loss makes her fire burn more intense, she can definitely make waves in the Fall indoor tournaments and during the Asian swing.

Go Pica! Secure the AUSSIE seeding!

Re: OLYMPIC CHAMPION Monica Puig

I knew it was a difficult match "match-up wise". As I said before, we have to respect all the opponents and not start thinking about possible QF or SF opponents before the tournament starts. Logic and tennis do not mix well

Re: OLYMPIC CHAMPION Monica Puig

Pica I was afraid a let down was going to happen. Zheng played inspired tennis after Monica went up early. Disappointing for sure, but I honestly feel like she wasn't prepared. She had some time off after Rio and had a lot of commitments after winning gold.

Re: OLYMPIC CHAMPION Monica Puig

Just realized that the reason for the favorable draw is the withdrawal from the USO Tournament of Sloan Stevens, the #24 seeded, due to a foot injury. Consequently, Monica came to occupy the #32 seeded and assured herself not to meet a seeded player before R-3. Hey, we'll take the good luck event, however, this shows the importance to improve the ranking before the end of the season to assure seeding in the Australia run of 2017....

Re: OLYMPIC CHAMPION Monica Puig

She got the best draw she could, even with Muguruza cause honestly Garbi is not on form. Let's hope she just keeps a good level of tennis and the results will come.

Re: OLYMPIC CHAMPION Monica Puig

For those who do not remember, Monica defeated Saisai Zheng two times during the 2014 WTA Rising Stars Tournament in Singapore that Monica won undefeated...We'll see what happens in R-1, which should set the tempo for the rest of the run in the 2016 USO for Mo...Go girl, do what U do best, Your fans got Ur back...
