Re: Caroline Garcia

I think all the change she can do at this stage is upstairs.

I think technique wise she has what it takes. The backhand is probably the shot if i had to choose any that could do with improvement.

Tactics are one thing. We go on about the return all the time so i will spare the detail, and i agree she should come to the net more often. I think Caro is an excellent volleyer compared to the other players on tour. We saw her play an excellent backhand volley today for example. One of the few players that i see on tour who has that sort of volley technique.

She also needs to learn how to construct points on a more regular basis. I know she can do it, i have seen her do it. Just more often please.

Emotional control is another thing. Ok, that might come more with age. Some mature later than others, but it is still something she can work on.

She turns 22 in 10 days. There is still time for her to find what she needs to reach the top level. I still have faith in Caro

you said it all. But what kind of "change" can we expect from her? you cant only say "ok so she'll work harder and next year she'll play like a top player", this is so many things for her to clarify :

what does she wants? what's her goal for next year?why doesnt she use her net skill more often?what's about variety?does she REALLY want to improve and change her game?

and so on and on and on. When you think she's that panicked against a player like Erranni you can be very worried about what she's able to do in the next few years...

Re: Caroline Garcia

It's sad to see that Caroline absolutely has no punch at these bigger events and barely makes it past R2.

But at least now she has more time to focus on that RisingFlop event.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Getting breadsticked by Errani in the final set after winning 6 games in a row. Now where's that barfing smiley?

On the other hand, that second set comeback was a nice surprise. When she brought her dad on court at 0-3, she was looking pretty exasperated, and when he started by telling her that she needed to calm down she got even more worked up and got all bitchy on him, so I didn't exactly expect her to hit a purple patch after that.

Re: Caroline Garcia

the same old sh***t over and over again, can't hold the momentum when she has it but this is heavy problem cause the best know how to keep it in order to get the win

when will the year will end for her really, disappointing year considering the hopes she can have from the start

Re: Caroline Garcia

Well those six games were good while they lasted. The third set she simply lost it

The opening game of that set was crucial. Caro would have probably felt she should have broken there and that would have carried the momentum from the previous set over. I think if she breaks, she wins. Instead errani held and that was it. Caro lost her game and the match, not holding serving once in the set

Re: Caroline Garcia

I managed to find the replay, but thanks anyway

Overall it was a good match, just a few mental lapses but it was a good enough match for Caro to get into her groove so to speak. Errani is not going to offer much offensively either, but is a way better competitor so we will see what Caro can do.

Hopefully she wins and adds some much needed points this week

^ I *really* hope she doesn't. Watching that annoying woman take out Petra was bad enough.

Caro played pretty well overall, although TBH Zheng looked like a walking bye for most of the match - when the Chinese player finally decided to change her approach and began to play less passively, the rallies became more competitive (allowing the crowd to get into it), although in the end Caro was never really threatened and simply had too much offense for her opponent.

The usual mental issues did surface briefly during the match. Caro threw in a stinker of a game when serving at 5-1 in the first set - it didn't really matter against such a harmless opponent, but this kind of mental lapse might prove costly against someone like Errani.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Looking at the draw there is a very good chance for Caro to go deep here.

Watch her lose to Errani now

Re: Caroline Garcia

it will be Errani she played already 2 times this year, it is tied to 1 win each

well hopefully Caroline will neutralize the italian grinding game by playing smart tennis and efficient one. Kvitova made too many ues so Garcia is warned, there's no place for BRAINLESS ballbashing
