Re: Caroline Garcia

I remember watching a SF Acapulco or somewhere around there, it was the 1st SF for Caro on WTA Tour. But it was long time ago. But did she beat her lately? I thought, but my memory might have some troubles.

Re: Caroline Garcia

This was much better from Caroline and i am happy she got a win against a higher ranked player, something she has struggled with this year despite her remarkable consistency.

H2H 3:0 for Xtina!

Dated 13,14 and most recent 16 in IW.
I didnt knew this prior checking, did anyone see some of that matches, what could it be in McFails game that is troubling her? Maybe she plays similar to Gavrilova?
Anyway Caro must learn to turn bad match ups to her favor a bit in order to be a stable top 15 player what we all want and know she can be.

Yes Caro. They didn't really play well at the same time and Kerber seemed almost to give up in the 3rd - but who cares
That 13 minute game in the 2nd was important I think but she did well to close out the 2nd set.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Well then. My hopes turned to be real. Once Angie was physically done in 2nd set it started rolling like a giant snowball for Caro. I cant blame her 1st set she really went for it and mm's decided. She had plan. She was really calm throughout match, and yes she was clutch. That long service game decided the match it showed her character. Very much needed and deserved win.

Caro!

Re: Caroline Garcia

Well Angie might be a bit plagued by that wrist injury she took MTO for in Tokyo. Maybe even a bit tired. That is a chance for Caro but she must deliver a very good game. I know i get over and over again too exctatic about her chances vs. top players but once it must start rolling. I dont recall her win vs. higher ranked player since that win over Konta in IW earlier this season. Maybe now?

Ceze you will have to battle past all the tourists to find the right shop! Now off you go to find it!
but even if I found one, I would probably not be able to give it to her in time before her match She'd better find a solution by herself! And she can do it I know it!
Allez!

Re: Caroline Garcia

I can't believe she has to play Kerber tomorrow If Kerber plays anything like she did the other day then she may wipe the floor with Garcia.

Re: Caroline Garcia

I am disappointed in Caro, not because she lost but because she failed to really test a top player yet again.

I thought Caro started well. She was striking the ball well, using the right tactics and seemed to be up for the match. I got excited because i thought this could be good. However, after she missed that passing shot i saw things change for her. All of a sudden she looked tense and the occasion started getting to her. Her serve stopped working and she had a real hard time finishing points off.

The second set was a little better from Caro but still not good enough. Garbine played a decent match and defended better than i expected from her, but Caro could have made this a lot closer than it was in my view.

It is a recurring problem against top players. Gamewise she can beat anyone, but mentally she is not ready to win big matches. Jow makes a good point though, Caro seems to go step by step rather than taking leaps so maybe that will come into her game within the next two years.

It is interesting watching this match though. Two players of the same age but the difference between them was like night and day. Muguruza looked like a champion out there whilst Caro looked like a person with the weight of playing the world number one.

I believe in pure ball striking tennis terms, Caroline is the more talented of the two. But mentally they are lightyears apart.
