Re: Alex Stevenson's Chat Thread. (!!!)

Alex and Tessah went down 7-6 6-1.

It just mirrors Alex's singles match.. had set point In the first set too. .

I watched the stream for the first few games of the first set before I had to go out, and from what I could hear, Alex is a very supportive doubles partner. Very encouraging to her partner for this week. I took special note of that!

From just watching the few games you can see that Alex is a much better doubles player than singles these days too. Her net play was very good, great anticipation.

Sexy still attracting crowds after all these years. 🤣

But seriously, drive carefully and enjoy the event. These ITF events are always fun to attend, and FREE, and one does get to see world-class competition, some interesting and hard-fought matches, etc.

Have fun and give our best to Sexy if you see her!

Nice she got a dubs win!

Good GRIEF if this woman put ALL of her efforts into a doubles career, something redeeming could possibly come of it.

She'll never even come close to the Top 300 again, but I absolutely believe she has the talent to be a potentially fabulous doubles player.

Come on, Sexy.

Re: Alex Stevenson's Chat Thread. (!!!)

Well, unfortunate.

She was obviously giving it her all in the first set, but clearly collapsed mentally in the second, to munch a breadstick.

I'm guessing she keeps on doing this nonsense the same way a surfer-bum will travel the world, on a wing and a prayer, living on a shoestring, seeing some sights and, oh, by the way ... getting some waves in (or a few balls.)

No one even remotely connected to her can possibly be SERIOUSLY THINKING she might get anywhere, tennis-wise.

I guess it's her and The Mother, and who knows what might keep them both in such staggering denial.

She's losing in the qualifying rounds of $25Ks.

There's just no way in HELL you can put a good spin on that at age 35 or 36.

If she and Mumsy are having fun doing this, then hats off to 'em.

But even in best-case scenario, being abroad for a month in Australia is tremendously expensive.

Even if she's getting housing, here and there, and that's not likely, given that she has no name value left at all.

And the stunner: she COMPLAINS about the indignity of playing these low-tier events.

As recently as the "Biracial Mother/Daughter Interview" she whined and kvetched about the lousy conditions of playing these very kinds of "events".

But she's been playing them --and losing constantly in them-- for almost half a decade now, unable to even eke-out a Top 500 ranking, with full schedules.

It defies description. I don't think there is a story quite this tragic and ridiculous in all of pro sports.

I would SO honor her if she said, "Hey, you know. It's not about winning or being a real pro. Me and my Mom just love tramping around and seeing places. Tennis at this point is just a convenient backdrop because we love to travel. Maybe I'll win a random qualifying match, once in awhile, but that's not a goal. It's all about the travel. We like rambling around."

But she STILL says crap like: "I'm just now over my shoulder injury [from 2004] and I plan to win a Grand Slam."

I mean ... 🤡

If she just went about her business and never declared any goals, one way or the other, and floated around as a perennial tennis bum, COOL BEANS.

But she STILL arranges and gives public interviews and podcasts and such, saying that she aims to win a Slam and implying --time after time-- that she is so much "better" than the ITF circuit, where she is treated poorly and that the whole thing is a horror.

And then she keeps playing and LOSING in these crapfests.

Year after year.

If she didn't keep making public "statements" about this crap, one could let it go.

Her actual game is in the crapper, if you're her age and, even by virtue of DECADES of experience, you can't regularly play your way out of 25K quallies.

The Mother seems like she's going to live until she's 90, which means that Sexy will be a 70 yr-old spinster, sprawled in an accordion tennis skirt, eating cat food, giving interviews to the cockroaches in their motel-room ... determined that her "moment is still going to come."

Seriously, with genuine love for Sexy, when does it END with her?

At the very least, she should have been giving tennis clinics as a club pro for the past 10 years ... since 2007.

Because the writing was on the wall even back in 2007 that she didn't have a chance.

I do like her and think her story is valuable, but for all the wrong reasons, now.

I hope she breaks out of her mother's frankly disturbing grasp, and pursues her OWN life, which is far more important than pursuing a dead-broke, low-level tennis embarrassment.

Godspeed, Sexy. I hope you find your real joy ... somewhere else.

Alex goes down in 2hr 9 minutes. 7-6 6-1.

Served great in the first set, and won 70% behind her first serve in the second set... but 8DF in the second set alone was just too much.

Maybe she can get a LL spot. Hope she plays doubles here.

Re: Alex Stevenson's Chat Thread. (!!!)

Such an even match ATM. Tomic just took the first set 7-6. 9-7 in the TB. Alex had a SP at 6-5 in the set on Tomics serve. And again at 7-6 in the TB.
Hopefully Alex can come back.

Re: Alex Stevenson's Chat Thread. (!!!)

I doubt the WC... but I guess you never know with her

She's still On the list for Clare and then Mildura (Mildura is on grass), then 2 weeks after Mildura at the end of March there is 2 $25,000 events at Mornington on Clay... I work in Mornington literally 3 minutes from the courts.. I really want her to stay for them so I can watch. But I think she'd head back to the states after Mildura.

Although she may be a shot at a direct MD acceptance in Mornington. It's about 60km southeast of Melbourne, so not too many internationals usually make the journey.

Re: Alex Stevenson's Chat Thread. (!!!)

Doesn't appear Sexy is in the Perth $25K qualifying draw, where she had been entered up until sign-in.

Maybe she got a last-minute MDWC, or perhaps was genuinely injured during her last qualifying loss retirement against Hives, and just forgot (or didn't bother) to officially withdraw.

Whatever the case, hopefully she's on a beach somewhere, soaking up the rays and sipping a MaiTai if tennis is out of the equation.
