Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

She needs to get over these 3 set losses so they don't become a thing and self-fulfilling. She has shown in Australia that when she is reasonably aggressive she can win most matches. When she becomes tentative she is a sitting duck to most players on the tour.

Where does she play next? I think she took a break after the AO last year.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

I was there for Set 2, but had to leave at that point because (a) I wanted to catch some of Bara/Petko and (b) I just knew Heather had blown it.

Brady has a strong serve and a decent power game but a player of Heather's experience should have been able to serve out or at least compete in the tiebreak. She got upset towards the end of set 2 about a missed call which was a grade A shocker - I was on the line and it was out by 2 inches. But she won that point anyway and has to stop these things getting to her.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

I was pretty disappointed when I woke up to this result this morning. Now after watching the extended highlights on Eurosport, I'm absolutely gutted. Brady had a flashy game, nice serve with plenty of power off the ground but no way in hell should Heather have let herself lose this match. She backed off and allowed herself to be dominated. She was doing everything right for the first two sets but just fell flat when serving for it.

4 of the 5 match points were saved by Brady first serves so can't really do much about that. But the one MP where they actually got into a rally, both players seemed reluctant to go for it. You would favour Heather in this sort of rally but she was the one who made a simple forehand error

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Brady was stronger physically and mentally. As Heather became more cautious she allowed Brady to dominate her. She would have won in two sets if she had played as aggressively as she did when she saved two match points before falling to the third match point. Plenty for her new coach to work on as the familiar weaknesses came back to haunt her. On a positive note her drop shots and volleys were better but her forehands need more top spin for her to hit hard and her second serves are gifts.

Losing to a member of the Brady bunch. What a missed opportunity to get to the second week of a slam..

Heather making heavy weather of this. Missed the chance to win in two sets so into a third set. Brady is gaining confidence and Heather is getting tighter. If Heather plays defensively she will lose.

Lost the doubles and sadly not in the draw for mixed doubles.

I only saw highlights but Hev did seem to be enjoying herself out there.

Also, she's got doubles tomorrow with Naomi and a chance of winning there too.

2017 AO R1: Watson trolls [18] Stosur out of AO 63 36 60

Some positive comments for Heather in the above tennis forum amongst general rubbishing of Sam.

Well done Heather. Shows the Hopman Cup was good preparation. Dan Evans came good in Sydney and so far so good in Melbourne.

Fantastic win for Hev! The high level of tennis she displayed throughout was impressive. She especially hit her forehand very well.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Hev won a match at a grand slam! 63, 36, 60

This was an important win for Hev.. Even though there was no way she should/could lose with Stosur's record and mentality at this event but looks like she was thinking about it..

Nest opponent will be either of two ITF giants Brady or Zanevska. Very winnable match either way.
