Ash and Dasha won the first matches in Birmingham - a good day for the young Aussies on the WTA and ATP tours

Hopefully they do get the WC but if not they will have a good chance in qualifying

Re: Aussies in WTA events

Amazing Great for the girls, surely they must be considered for a WC, not too sure on the history of Doubles WC's, but if it's anything like the Singles WC's they would be a shoe in!

Re: Aussies in WTA events

They did it

Slight hiccup in the second set after holding an early lead, but wow...WTA title holders!

Monique back in the top 100, which is where she belongs.

So good to see an all Aussie pairing of ITF battlers win a WTA tournament! Couple this with the Surbiton 100K win, they would have to be under consideration for a Wimby WC, right?!?

I thought that yesterday but it was Bryanne Stewart-like that came to my mind.

After Jess Moore's shock WTA win last year, its great to see the lower ranked girls competing for big trophies. Good luck to them tonight!

Re: Aussies in WTA events

What a great result for Mon and Storm

A 100K title, followed up with a WTA final and a very real shot at the title!

Mon's ranking to go to about 105 after this, and she will smash through to top 100 of she wins. She was unranked a few months ago

Re: Aussies in WTA events

This form from Mon and Storm is so impressive. Out of no where to win the $100K and now final of WTA together, if they win tonight they will both crack Career High Rankings.
Would love for Mon to have a Rodionova-like career from here and be top 40 and steadily do well in WTA's and Slams. Mon needs to find a strong partner and stick with her.
Storm needs to find a balance with her singles career, and singles should be her priority.

^ Wonder if winning one of these events will land them a w/c into the doubles at Wimbledon?

Mon/Storm Into the Semis won a hard fought match against Boserup/Rogers 6-7(4) 7-5 10-5, 110 point and $1750 each but is still shit considering SF of a WTA
