Sam had a solid win over Sevastova 7-5 6-4! Barbora 95% next (plays Al Nahbani) will be tougher

She didn't retire, she was on a long injury layoff.

Her last tournament before she got injured was AO 2015, after that she had a doubles ranking of 162. Since her injury layoff was more than 6 months she has a protected ranking of 162 saved now.

Re: Aussies in WTA events

Looks like Arina will play in Budapest WTA, has entered doubles but at the moment ranking isn't high enough for singles Q. Should sneak in though.

Also Monique has entered WTA Budapest with Melichar with her PR I wonder where both ladies will go after this event as there are not many options in WTA or ITF in Europe during this time of the year.

Re: Aussies in WTA events

What's that for Sam, the first win since the US Open? Any win is a good win I suppose, Jakupovic next, and if she gets by that match, either Siniakova or Peng.

Re: Aussies in WTA events

I can't see Dasha beating Kuznetsova, considering the result from their last meeting indoors but since it is not a final, I'm sure she'll give her best shot.
