Re: Aussies in WTA events

Amazing week. Fun fact, in the last All-Aussie-Final when Molik beat Stosur in Sydney, it was also Stosur & Bryanne Stewart who won the womens doubles title. So good to see a similar Aussie story unfold here in Strasbourg. (Also Lleyton won the mens singles and Woodbridge/Bhupathi won the doubles).

Stoked for Sam and pleased she holds the #1 Aussie rank another fortnight at least. We aren't ready for her to give it up just yet.

It was great that the French crowd really got into the final.
And Dasha getting her words mixed up during the ceremony about Sam being a role model and ending up saying 'you're a model and a role model'....and their arms around each other during Dasha's speech
I hope Dasha can rebound quickly from this loss, whereas Sam getting a stack of matches before the FO can only help her.

It was great, especially because they gave the French crowd an exciting, entertaining and high quality final. The old vs young generation aspect gave the match extra flavour, and the warm embrace at the net and mutual respect and affection shown during the ceremony made me feel so proud of both girls

It was a great way to showcase Aussie women's tennis.

We are guaranteed a double Aussie celebration. Casey and Ash won the doubles in straight against the Chan's.

Over 10 years since we had an all Ausse final. #1 ranking on the line also. And Casey and Ash playing in the doubles finall as well. Good to see Aussie women's tennis take the headlines for a change.

^ Sam is pretty unreliable these days, but if she can replicate the FO form of last year with such an open, and apart from a select few, unheralded field.... who knows.

Dash with the 1st set over Ash, 6-4, after being 0-3.

Getting better the more matches she gets. Hope the draw is kind for her in Paris, with the way the field is turning out, a really good chance to go far!

Good win by Sam. Some strong serving particularly in the 2nd when she missed a few opportunities to run away with it.
Great reflex volley to win the match too

Yeah calmness is key for a player like her who has a large shot repertoire and attacking style.
But it is the little things in between points she can do. Maybe just say cmon after a winner from time to time.

The match against Dasha now will be a big contrast in this. Although I don't think Dasha will show much since they're friends.

Yes. Although she isn't communicating with the crowd at all, she will need them on her side in big matches.

Not saying she needs to directly interact, but if she shows tiny positive emotion it will lift them greatly.
