Agree and couldn't explain my thoughts about her ranking and all (season2012) better, even in german. Thanks!

I think this is seriously true. While I appreciate mk27's updates and it is fun for us to calculate where she might be if she played a certain tournament, I don't think Sabine makes her decisions based on rankings. Some of her decisions this year that have been criticized in this forum I think make her more appealing to pull for because she obviously is motivated by more than just her selfish interests. She stated that the Olympics was the most important tournament of her life and she obviously cares greatly for her country. She was crushed after just missing the bronze medal in mixed doubles, even though it would have meant zero ranking points. Although I was at first puzzled when she returned to Roland Garros for the exhibition match with Steffi, it showed that she takes her commitments seriously, especially when they involve children.

I think she takes a more long-term approach, trying to do what will improve her game in the long run rather than what will rack up a few ranking points. Ten years from now, few people will remember whether she was ranked 12th or 33rd on September 11, 2012. While it would have been nice to make the top eight to make the year-end championships, this is not the year. I also don't think it's that big a deal if she's not seeded for the Australian Open. She seems to play better when she is the lower ranked player and when palying her best can beat pretty much anyone. Even if her rankings dropped so much that she was back to qualifying (which I certainly don't hope for), I think qualifying actually helped her in 2011 by letting her play her way into tournaments. This year she has faced a viscious circle of coming into first rounds cold, losing, and as a result being cold for the next tournament. The important thing is to find a way to solve whatever physical and mental issues she has to get the most out of her game. If she is able to do this, she will be able to gain momentum and the rankings will take care of themselves.

well you know what I mean though. She may be WTA 33 but she's forever my No 1 I will always support her and I am one of her biggest fans.

I don't understand much about her plans. She remains quiet and won't share her schedule with her fans yet. She was happy to tweet about the men's final but not responding to any fan questions wanting to know her schedule. So I wonder if she even knows.

why hasn't she entered a tournament this week to get wins under her belt and ranking points back on the board?
Cause nobody of her class does. And if I'm the only one, sure she knows what's the best for her now!

I have a feeling we are more concerned about her ranking than she is!

Team Lisicki have known for 2 weeks her ranking would drop alarmingly. She can't have been too injured in NY otherwise she wouldn't have continued doubles with Peng, so as Ziva indicated, why hasn't she entered a tournament this week to get wins under her belt and ranking points back on the board?

As a big fan it hurts to see her slip so much. She has been as low as 218 last year after injuries and then made a huge climb to 15 by the end of 2011, and we hoped she'd break the top 10 but injuries and still many problems with her game has held her back. I hope she doesn't go into ranking oblivion again before she can get her game right again. I love Bine and I'll always support her no matter her ranking. I hope nobody turns on Bine and gives up on her, because these are the times we need to support her. I'm sure you guys on here won't although I expect some fans who came to support her only because she was good at Wimbledon the last 2 years may not follow her so much. Let's be fair also, her bad luck with injuries has again thwarted her ambitions, the inability to get consistent tournament play without interruptions will hurt anyone's chances to sustain a ranking.

I love the player and I love the woman, Sabine Lisicki I'm always behind her

Re: Sabine's ranking breakdown

I'm not exaggerating here, but I think Sabine is facing a potential crossroads in her career!

She's not an up and coming player anymore, she's an established figure and expectations are high. I know the Lisicki family made huge changes to their lives when Sabine joined Bollettieri, but she needs to make fresh changes in order to take her to the next level. I think she needs her dad, so I'm not suggesting a new coach, but I sometimes wonder if leaving IMG in Bradenton could be a good move. Now Bollettieri is virtually retired, does anyone actually know what IMG does for Sabine?

She needs to look at Azarenka and ask herself, what improvements has Victoria made to her game, training regime, fitness routines, mental toughness etc over the past 18 months, and what can I do to improve myself in the same way

I think Sabine loves the all the rewards commercially from various sponsorship deals. I also think she loves being a figure of desire, and men drooling over their laptops at her, but I question whether she's focused enough on her tennis.

A prime example of when I questioned her decision making, was when she'd left the French Open after a disappointing early exit. She then posted a message on Twitter that she had fun and wish she could have gone further. That's not the attitude of a top 10 player IMO. She then has points to defend at Birmingham, but the day before Birmingham started she was back at Roland Garros, in the freezing cold playing a meaningless exhibition with Steffi Graf. 2 days later, she's losing 280 ranking points at Birmingham with another 1st round exit

She's such a compelling player and character, you can't help but love her, but this doesn't mean we can't question the paths she's currently taking

Thanks for the welcome boomerangkid!
Oh yes! We must stand together trying to create a positive force to push Sabine out of the tunnel and move up the ranks. Although unfortunately we can not stay in his head...

Re: Sabine's ranking breakdown

New rankings have just been released, Sabine has dropped to 33

What a massively disappointing 2012. Sabine needs to start looking at herself, and ask what she needs to do in order to fulfil her huge potential. Something isn't working right now, she needs to be honest about that
