This article kinda hints it's not as a sure thing:

THE WHISPER

Is there a comeback on the cards? Former star junior Ash Barty was spotted hitting balls at Melbourne Park Thursday. The 19-year-old turned her back on tennis and played for the Brisbane Heat in the women’s BBL this year but her desire to come down for the Open has TA officials privately excited.

Re: Ashleigh Barty

I forgot about the age differences between tennis and cricket, at 19 Ash is probably the youngest in this entire tournament.

Also she has the experience of playing in big stages under pressure, it's unprecedented for a new cricketer (yet alone any cricketer), interesting little platform.
