Re: Melanie Oudin

Understandable. And she's still reasonably young for the sport. She could take a year off then get bored decide to try a comeback. Fairly common occurrence these days. Either way, I wish her luck.

Re: Melanie Oudin

As this year progressed with Melanie not playing any tournaments, I felt deep down this news would soon be coming. I followed her run in 2009 and immediately became a fan of not only Mel's, but of tennis. She's the reason I took up tennis and am such an avid fan of the game. There were so many rollercoaster moments in her career and I'm proud to have been on that crazy ride. From her winning WTA Birmingham and US Open Mixed to seeing her live on multiple occasions, it's been a pleasure to have been her fan. Right now this news is hard to swallow, but I know she'll be successful in whatever she chooses to do next.

Thanks for the memories, Mel.

I will miss Melanie's spirit. Her USO run is my fave of the Cinderella slam runs. She absolutely captivated the nation for that labor day weekend. Cannot believe that was 8 years ago.

I also love her constantly dumping on JJ. Always exposed that fraud.

I wonder if she'll play ever again. Doubt it.

I'd been wondering whatever happened to Oudini, this must've been a real tough setback for her. I wish her well and hope she recovers fully and will be back on court again soon.

Takes awhile. A run's not as competitive as pro tennis

Now we know. Thanks for the update. Mono's another bad hit, can take a long time to recover. I wonder how long she's been fighting it?
