i had a bit of a lauging fit when i saw this trailer at the movies last week. and i was instantly reminded why i hate musicals with a vengeance.

I fear Victor Hugo will most likely turn into his grave cause it doesn't look good. Just remember Bel-ami of Donnellan&Ormerod which was the biggest outrage towards France of the XXI century.

VERY mixed reviews. It would be a joke if it wins and even worse if Tom Hooper wins. I really don't like his work.

Still pissed they went for names over talent.

Sam from I'd Do Anything, though!

EDIT: Having watched the extended trailer I can start to understand why they went for actors over singers! Could be amazing!

So apparently this is getting huge Oscar buzz and looks to be an early frontrunner. This looked bad to me before and now that I found out Tom Hooper directed this. Ugh. I hated The Kings Speech.

Should have brought back the legendary Frances Ruffelle to play Eponine....even if she is 48 now Her "On My Own" is unmatched. I think she is playing a minor role in the film so that is something I guess.

Looking forward to this one, too... Ann's vocals are not quite as solid as they could be, but what bothers me the most about this short excerpt is that she is verging on over-dramatic since the very first verse of this number.

Sure, "I dreamed a dream" is about loss and sorrow... but I'd expect an emotional crescendo to it, while this sounds a little too much, a little too soon. Anyway, Fantine's never been my favourite character in the show, so...
