Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

Haas def. ALF 76(5) 75

She had chances in both sets ( 1st set: 6-5* 30-0, 2nd set: *43) but was not able to make the important points and lost it in the end!
Now a short break and then she is on the list for the next 25k tournament in France again, good decision to play some more tournaments, she needs matches and she needs wins to get some confidence back!
Serve is surely not as good yet as before, no aces today again also but who knows how her shoulder still affects her when it comes to her serve, we´ll see how it continues there.

Q1: ALF vs. Haas

Maybe she can win her match against Haas, the Austrian is consistent but without bigger weapons!
ALF´s serve is not as powerful yet as before her injury IMO, looked like that in her match against Kuzmova at least, so that´s not ideal for sure as she surely needs free points/aces for her game, we´ll see how it continues, Q2 vs. van Uytvanck or maybe Zhuk is probably too much!

Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

lost 26 57!
2nd set she was ahead 5-2 and had 40-15 at *53, shame that she was not able to take that chances but not surprising after that long break and ALF often had mental problem as well anyway but not unhappy with that result!

Luxembourg Q next, tough field there also but maybe she can get a win there, it´s good that she does not need to waste her PR for now, she should play some ITFs after Lux and German championships also to get as many matches (and wins) as possible before 2018.

Kuzmova (Q) vs. [WC] Friedsam

hoped that she would face the LL (Broady) but Kutmova obviously is one of the toughest players from Q, hope she can stay pain free again and that she will be able to improve slowly with matches like that , I do hope that she can get a win in Luxembourg Q maybe, a win over Kuzmova would really surprise me, still good luck!!

Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

She had a MTO at 34 in the second set, hope she's fine

Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

lost 67(6) 36 to Galfi!

result itself is totally fine after her long injury break but shame that she couldn´t take her chances, wasted a *65 lead in the TB and was break ahead twice in 2nd set, seems that she was running out of gas then towards the end but still a successful comeback for ALF!

We´ll see if she can get some wins in Luxembourg (and maybe Linz) but I hope that she will also play some smaller ITFs afterwards to get some more matches, if she stays injury free, which is obviously most important right now...

Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

Nice and easy, she seems to be in good shape again already!

Galfi probably next, a really good test against a promising youngster, would be another positive sign, if she could keep it close!
A bit unlucky that she is in the same section as Galfi and especially Bencic but she already achieved much more than I expected anyway...

I hope she can keep this up!

[Q] Anna-Lena Friedsam (GER) def. Kimberley Zimmermann (BEL) 6:1 6:3

Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

Good Quali for ALF!

She will play Zimmermann in MD tomorrow, not a bad draw, she might even get one more win, if she is already fit enough for 3 matches in a row but it will also depend on her serve, she surely will need some time to get back at 100% with her serve and everything but it´s most important that she stays pain free and that she can have complete trust in her shoulder again.

Hallo liebe Tennisfreunde,
wie einige von Euch bestimmt schon mitbekommen haben, habe ich gestern wieder mein erstes Spiel beim 25k-Turnier in Clermont-Ferrand bestritten.
Was soll ich sagen?!

Re: Anna-Lena Friedsam

beats Alibalic 64 75

always nice to come back with a win, there was a MTO in the 2nd set at *54 for ALF, not sure who took it but let´s hope that it was not because of her shoulder but serve stats look totally fine, especially in 2nd set!

edit: she might play Linz afterwards, her homepage says : "evtl. WTA-Turnier in Linz (Österreich)"

Q1: Anna-Lena FRIEDSAM (UNR) vs. [8] Nina ALIBALIC (AUS/WTA 566)

Welcome back!
No expectations, we´ll see how it goes, most important thing is that she is healthy and that she slowly can improve again, she comes back for the indoor hardcourt tournaments, so the surface suits her at least, step by step, guess she plans to use her first Special Rankings for Australia and tries to get as many matches (and hopefully wins) as possible before.

She already received a WC for Luxembourg Q also, maybe also one for Linz Q, could be possible as former finalist there....
