Re: Aussies in WTA events

Nastya wins 6/4 7/5. Very tight and shaky at the end. Even though her opponent hit some crackers when down match point, Nastya really tried to choke this and had she lost that service game I'd say she would have completely collapsed mentally. Jankovic next.

Jarka lost 4/6 4/6. Very hard to watch, seemed like she desperately needs a break and was thankful this was her last match of the year (excluding doubles here). I don't think she fought too hard, and at times didn't even look interested in moving to the ball. See u in Brisbane 2016.

Jarka lost but Nastya won. What a gift for Nastya! Oh well - I guess it makes up for the gifts she gave Arina this year.

Should play Jankovic next. That could be fun! Two of the nastiest on tour

Queen Nastya wins the first set and breaks in the second
Needs some ranking points ASAP!
Jarka being Jarka and losing the first set.

Re: Aussies in WTA events

Was Rodi the highest qual seed not to have played a match before the withdrawal?

And how did Case get concussed?

I have no freaking clue either. She was 11th seed in qualies before pulling out!

I would love an answer for this if anyone has one...

Re: Aussies in WTA events

Yeah the last in was Kai-Cheng Chang (151)

Muguruza has withdrawn, and the draw has been altered slightly so Sam now plays Risa Ozaki, and won't face a seed until the semi-final.

Also, apparently Casey pulled out with concussion

Re: Aussies in WTA events

Yeah I thought she was in the Tianjin qualies draw originally, so confusing

Great draws for Sam, Dasha, & Nastya, and who knows which Shvedova and which Jarka will show up.

Assuming Rodionova somehow got herself a wildcard??

Gavrilova plays Miyu Kato from Japan (#210) and Rodionova, Irina Ramialison (#294).

Good luck to the other 4 though

Re: Aussies in WTA events

All 4 need wins and points here. Seems Casey withdrew from this event. Just to lock in her need for a WC for AO.

chingching I have such a love hate relationship with BBBs The thing that saddens me most about Jarka is that she started the year so well, playing with more margin and trying to work the points more. People were saying that Top 20 might finally arrive. And look where she is now Perhaps she should focus on Doubles next year to try and make Olympics?

I have always found her game incredibly frustrating and difficult to watch. However her match against Kerber at Fed Cup this year was one of the best for Australia for many years (Jarka's stroke play in the final two sets was amazing). I wonder how her season may have gone if she had found a way to win that final set against Petkovic in the 4th rubber.
