It's because she has only left leg paralysis that gives her an edge over everyone else.

Esther Shes so amazing! I wonder if she will ever get sick of winning I wonder what her reaction will be when/if she finally loses a match.

What if you just hit moonballs over your opponent?

wonder why

Re: Paralympics SF: Esther Vergeer def. Jiske Griffioen 60/63. '469 matches in a row'

congratulations to her but as others have said i find it odd that no one has been able to really step up and win the big wins. Alot of her matches are rediculously one sided like this one and i guess the question is why?

how can she be so much better than everyone else..and whats going to happen when she's gone?

I hope we see some ITFs at that Stratford facility after this.

No it's on hardcourt. They built a new venue specially for the Wheelchair Tennis event.

If you want her to lose during the next major you'll need the same winner's check as in wta tennis.

Most dominant athlete in the world right now
She almost lost to Korie in Bejing (saved MP)
Since then I don't think she's lost a set

The Dutch really dominate the sport though
BTW, is it on Grass

She's obviously an impressive athlete but there's something wrong in the competition when nobody except her get the big wins...

I wonder if there's an unwritten rule that players should try to win by hitting the ball "normally" rather than hitting shots like sliced, junk shots, or hitting drop shots all the time. On grass a match could turn ugly quickly. Or maybe they're actually able to handle that?
For one, the ball is allowed to bounce twice, so players have much more time to return the drop shot. Also, these players are in wheelchairs and much closer to the ground than us; it is probably more difficult for them to hit such a shot effectively at that height.

Esther saved 1 MP in the Paralympic final of Beijing against Korie Homan, so her streak could have ended there.
I'm happy it is still running though.

World No. 2 Aniek van Koot is the only one who has won a set against Vergeer this year in Pensacola when Vergeer won 6-3 6-7 6-2. Thats pretty much the only close match she played this year.

Also, she has played against Griffioen 50 times and she won all encounters. Only close match was in 2008 when Vergeer won 6-1 3-6 6-4. All other matches she won in straight sets and she didnt lose more than 3 games in each of those matches

It does amaze me how a player can be so much better than the rest.

This woman is fucking GOAT. Wheelchair tennis is 100x harder than real tennis IMO. You have to do so much more multi-tasking. Serena's dominance is some fucking sandbox shit compared to her. Take a seat.

I'd like to see a full match too.
