Solid win. Potential QF against Robson/Murray, if they can get through that they will have a good shot at a medal. Lleyton was playing the best I've seen him in the past five years so hopefully that will lift Sam's performance.

Mixed doubles R1:

Stosur/Hewitt def. A. Radwanska/Matkowski 6-3 6-3

Thank god we had at least one win from one of the girls.

Nerdy fact: This was the first Olympics mixed doubles match since 1924!

^^ Totally flabbergasted with that result. You'd think playing for your country in the Olympics the girls would show some pride and fight.

Re: Aussies at the Olympics

I can't believe they only won 2 games in doubles For a pair of Slam champs in this discipline, that is just inexcusable.

Re: Aussies at the Olympics

Looks like a Wimbledon repeat result wise. Sam said she is next playing Montreal - no mixed for her it seems.

Re: Aussies at the Olympics

Makarova/Vesnina def. Gajdosova/Rodionova 61 64

We knew they weren't gonna win but it was still a great effort for the girls and I hope they were just happy that they got to participate in the olympics.

Re: Aussies at the Olympics

Obviously Sam is not much of a chance for a medal in singles but would be SO awesome for her and Casey to snag one in doubles. It's a tough draw but they will always be dangerous.

Tough doubles draws but I'd give both teams a chance to move into R2 with Casey and Sam outside chances at a bronze medal. Anyone know who our team will be for the mixed? I'd go with Sam and Lleyton.
I agree with you Jack. I think Sam will play with Lleyton and they will be a good chance I reckon!
