Re: Caroline Garcia

She is a girl, who, each time we will say her "do not do that", she will do it. And here I agree, it is only pride. She wants to prove everyone that daddy can help her until the very last. I really hope she will change her mind... Because here I feel we are just losing our time, she is losing her time with him. What will happen if she does not get top 10 at the end of the year? Will she try something else? I don't know what to expect anymore and what to think. She is destroying herself imo.

Re: Caroline Garcia

I think a lot of the dad situation is due to her being a lonely child.

Because Caroline is their only child, all their love is poured into her and as a result she has a deeper bond with her parents than most would. She is daddy's little princess, it is obvious. It is also meant she has not matured much because she has never gone out on her own and try find her own way. If she had a sister or brother, especially a younger one, then i am willing to guess things would be different because their attention would not be 100% on Caroline.

Caro said to me last year that family is a big part of her project. That said to me that she is not making that change any time soon and that she wants to go through he career with dad and see how far she can go with him. The mentality is that they are a TEAM and it is not HER CAREER but THEIR CAREER.

The day Caroline realises what she needs to do is the the day she becomes a top player. I hope that it is not too late for her when she does. It is obviously a hard thing for her because of how close Caro and dad are. It might take a while for her to know this but she needs a different look and perspective on her game. The top players are always seeking different approaches, even Roger Federer and Serena Williams who are two all time greats.

It is just obvious that right now she does think she needs that, or that she can't do it.

Re: Caroline Garcia

well in fact she played top10 level for 15 mn during that match. 2 great games in 20. Not enough to reach the 2nd week.

She started the match very tense, like if she didnt believe she can win this. Strycova didnt have to do much since Caro was spreading errors( gifts) all over the court.

She was pissed (she cried) in post match intv, saying that she arrived there with no preparation, coming from an injury BUT she can have some regrets

she was leading 5-3 40-15 then she forgot how to play tennis AGAIN. Emilie Loit (former top20) was commentating her was speechless about what happened here. How it is possible to fall like that? she really should have won that 2nd set. And strycova looked very "affected" in this 2nd set. Caro didnt see her opponent and collapsing alone.

I really think she put too much pressure on herself with this Fed Cup decision and top10 target. + she 's paying her 2016 crazy schedule and huuuge long season.
It will take her MUCH more to reach top10 for sure!

I really LOOVE Caro in game n°7 and n°8 of this 2nd set. If she has something to learn from that horrible match is that SHE MUST COME TO THE NET MORE!
just watch again those 2 games, all this physical and power investment, when she plays like that she's unstoppable. Strycova looked so "small" there
I do think that Caro must beat this type of player, she has more weapons but mentally she kind of "accepted the loss" finding some excuses etc...

But top 10 requires to be tougher and refuse to lose! she's not there YET.

And to finish, I read some intv she gave to french newspaper. She was saying that it is not easy sometimes with her dad, the critics he can say to her;
She sayed that many think bad about the "dad-daughter" coaching but she took Bartoli as an example of success.

She 's taking the wrong modele cause they are so different, bartoli had no physique, poor technique and had, (wimbledon win was an exception) quite a disapointing career. Nothing great.
So that's not a modele to copy. I think the dad choice as a coach is seen by her as a challenge to prove to those who criticize this choice that she was RIGHT!It's pure pride!

well that's sad cause we saw today how poor she was mentally. Her game must improve, she must work with a real technician. What a waste really cause she can do so much better than that

Re: Caroline Garcia

Well she lost, and i can't say it is unexpected. I did not expect such a collapse in the second set though, i thought she was getting better at dealing with nerves.

So we still have to wait for this Grand Slam breakthrough. Hopefully next time she does not draw Radwanska or Strycova or any player like that because she is too easily outsmarted.

At least Caro and Kiki won the 2nd round doubles today.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Caro lost in straight sets 6-2 7-5
She had 2 set points in the 2nd and tossed in a horrible double fault on one of them and then fell apart. I think she won about 1 of the last 15 points
A waste - but she obviously wasn't going to beat Serena anyway.

Re: Caroline Garcia

super caro

she still very rusty and against strycova she has no choice, she has to go for it, give her all!

I watched strycova matchs and Caro really has to practice her serve and shots down the line. Dont give her time to make you visit the court; her shots must be long too. Contrepieds are also very efficient cause she's rushing to the middle after big serve. Play her behind is a good tactic.

I watched some highlights against petkovic and she uses her forehand to make her move and her backhand to settle her game.

be ready also to come to the net cause if she loses 1st set she has to make something happen to make strycova doubt. This girl can doubt big but you have to pressure her and not give her "free points", nor angles.
she can auto destruct BUT you have to be consistent and "deadly" at the same time.

Tough equation for Caroline who must think she's playing Fed Cup to give her best there

Just fight and give it all. I wish to see her turn into SUPER SAYAN CARO lol (remember the fed cup finale frustration, time to avenge)

Allez!

Re: Caroline Garcia

First step - getting seeded at Slams.

Second step - living up to her seeding at Slams.

Third step - breakthrough at Slam level.

It would be nice if the third step could happen right now, but I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't. If it still hasn't happened by the end of the season, on the other hand...

Re: Caroline Garcia

Caro

Good win for her. She could probably have done with a three setter given she had no matches heading into the tournament.

Not looking forward to the next match because Barbie is a bad match for Caro, but let's hope she has learned some lessons and gets the result we desire.

Re: Caroline Garcia

So finally we know now that Caroline had issues on her back during preparation... and that's why she did not play Sydney. She was not ready.
Let's see what will happen next rd, but a win over Strycova and a first 2nd week in GS would be very good. Let's go Caroline

Re: Caroline Garcia

I wasn't being totally serious. Although some people did say they wanted Caro to play Strycova in the posts just above.

The match we all wanted? I certainly did NOT!! It's gonna take something really special from Garcia to beat Strycova... Her game does not really bother her.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Yes she was moving heavily, was late on her shots sometimes

she had an intv before the mach with eurosport journalist, she said she wants to be top10 and wont play fed cup this year. That she would prefer Mary and Yannick (Noah) to come and see her after the Australian Open...

she said she tried many rackets after the US Open and finally chose Yonex, she feels good using this racket (VCore 100), she has more controle with it
she said also she want to be more solide , not making too many errors, become consistent.

I actually think it was quite a good match cause she was using a new racket, it was the 1st match.Let's hope she'll get relax more and more and enjoy her game more and more

Re: Caroline Garcia

She struggled with the heat?

I could be wrong, but this is interesting because i have never seen her struggle much with heat before (at least i can't remember it).

Lack of preparation taking it's toll maybe?
