Thanks for posting the pic GeeTee-I wasn't aware Mags was at the Big W.

And nice to see some color from an early film!

Re: Margaret Court Picture Thread

I like this recent one:

Also I was enjoying on YT seeing some colour film of Marg vs Billie-Mean in 1963 - not sure if it's been posted before, but anyway:

Shame it seemed to have mostly unforced errors in the 'highlights' lol

"Aimersoft DVD Ripper" although it only lets you rip 10 x DVDs before you have to pay a fee apparently.

Re: Margaret Court Picture Thread

I think I have been able to upload the video snippet on GOAT - Margaret Court that was shown during the French Open 2016 recently. I made a DVD and then uploaded it to my computer and converted it to MP4 with some free software then I managed to upload that to You Tube. I hope it works - it seems fine to me. Let me know peoples ....

Yes - I'm pretty sure that would be her last Aussie tournament victory at the Dec 76 Toyota at Kooyong where she had a slight leg injury but beat Barker, Stove and Reid comfortably. She had a ding-dong battle with her old rival Lesley Bowrey in the first round though.

Thanks for posting this Raiden!

If I should venture a good guess I would say this is from an Aussie event in late 1976.

I base it on 2 things:

1. The Toyota sign-I believe they were sponsors only from 1976.
2. Her racquet and general look

Re: Margaret Court Picture Thread

1) login to youtube (get a google account if you don't have one)
2) choose from menu or an "upload" button (the top right corner)
3) you'd be asked to "select files to upload" you do that >> then indicate where the file is
4) youtube will take care of the rest >> you edit name/title and so forth to finish off

Yes Raiden I just checked and I have the Court GOAT piece which goes for 2 1/2 minutes. It's on my DVD Recorder ... I have no idea how to get it off a DVD recorder and put it online ...

As for Margaret Court, her figures came out on top in every category they mentioned - total slams, career singles % wins, GS winning singles % and singles slams. Fred Stolle said something along the lines 'IMO there is no doubt she is the GOAT and must be considered in any discussion'. Good on you Fred!

It's funny coz I often think it's Borg and Court that don't get as many mentions as others. And of course Stolle mentioned that both Laver and Rosewall would both have close to 20 Slams each had they been allowed to play the eras they were banned (48 slams Rosewall missed at his peak and he still won 8!!!!!!)

Gonzales is another that would have benefitted greatly had he have been able to play the slams. Certainly he would have been a dominant figure at Wimbledon, US and probably the Aussie Open with his amazing grass court game. So in the men's section there are others that should be added into the mix of GOAT discussions, not just those in the pro era.
Is that available on tape?

Rod Laver would lead my GOAT list for the men. Two Grand Slams (as in THE Grand Slam)-who can top that?

By the way-do either of you live in or near Sydney? I am visiting Australia in November and would love to meet up, play some tennis (on grass if possible) and meet a fellow Blaster in person!
Yes Rollo I live in Sydney and would love to meet up and play some tennis and have some dinner! Not sure about grass as it's my worst surface (Durr clone) but I do love Synthetic grass! PM me and we'll definitely catch up! Plus we could watch some old rare classic matches that you may have never seen!
