Re: Your tennis results?!

^Tough luck

Anyway. *insert lengthy amount of swearing*. Lost my first comp match of the season 5-6 (6) leading *5-3 and *6-2 (:eek) in the TB

It was doubles and while I was quite good overall it turned into a fucking mess up 6-2. 4 errors off my racquet. Tbf they were great on the mps but I did: FH error, FH volley errpr (after my partner hit 6 excellent volleys in a row), FH return error and a FH error chasing a lob which my partner probs would have returned

Two matches to go and I swear if I choke again...

Re: Your tennis results?!

I played my first adult tournament Men's 4.0 tournament, and it was kinda a fluke since the organization shouldn't be allowing people under 18 to enter the adult tournaments. Either way, I won my first round pretty easily 6-1 6-1. I played the bare minimum to win and I wasn't satisfied. It was 16 ppl, so i played the fourth seed next, (ranked 176 in Canada 4.0) and I played very well at the beginning but I lost countless and I mean countless games up 40-15. I basically handed him the match on stupid unforced errors and double faults. I was trying to be aggressive while all he did was put the ball back in court. I lost 6-3 6-1 after leading 3-2 in the first set... and I completely lost it. He was calling me buddy or what not and it just got on my nerves, also broke a string ugh but thats tennis. Hopefully next time it will be better. Playing national u-18 selections tomorrow, likely won't win but i play in the main draw in doubles next week.

Cheers to everyone and Happy New Year!!

I got that vibe from him, he always tried to bash the volleyer with his returns, and because my partner's serves were so bad he was able to force me into a bunch of volley errors And when we warmed up, I warmed up dtl with the better one, and he was just smacking the absolute crap out of the ball, not really giving two shits about whether it went in or not.

I never dropped more than 2 games in a set But to be fair, I am older than them and am a ballbasher by nature, so I never really had too much trouble overpowering them, it would just come down to my own consistency (or lack of).

And the better one is an absolute turd. I don't like either of them, but the better one is insufferable.

At *0-4 in the second, I though, you know what, fuck it, I am not getting double bagelled. So I hit two massive first serves, both were service winners (which is no mean feat against two guys who just won a gold tournament). Then I hit another 3 huge serves, but my useless partner flubbed easy short returns. fml

I'm not sure how to explain to a non Aussie, basically they give points that contribute to an Aussie national ranking. I'm not that good though lol.

Playing really well in my latest tournament. Won my first round main draw match 3-6 6-4 6-0, 8 games in a row from *4-4. Really happy I pulled through when nothing was working for the first 1 1/2 sets.

Lost my second match to a seed 0-6 0-6. It looks bad but I actually played decent, best double bagel ever My 1st serve % was horrible, explaining the scoreline, but we had loads of good rallies and most games went to 30 or deuce. Trying to change things up, I successfully serve and volleyed and SABR'd in the last few games of the second set

Won my first consolation match 6-0 6-2, opponent wasn't much, but he wanted to default at 6-0 5-2 before changing his mind I played crap in that match, lethargic and too many errors.

Then I won my second consolation match 6-4 4-6 10-8 Guy I played had a huge first serve, got a lot of them in, but my returns were sooo consistent for once. He had a good slice on both wings, hit deep groundies one shot, then drop shots the next. But I was really consistent, my BH, ROS and 2nd serve were above usual level for most of the match. I also fell over and scraped my knee at 2-3* (covered in blood for the rest of the match lol) in the second, and still broke the next point Mental vacation at *4-4 40-0 and a ball sitting up at the net for a winner, missed it Then he lifted his game. But I fought really hard in the MTB from 3-6* down, where I thought I was done tbh, and was mentally strong throughout

Now another early match tomorrow morning.

Re: Your tennis results?!

Into the 2nd round at a silver in doubles, so yay, ranking points Only playing doubles this week. Played decent-ish but it's on synthetic which I was NOT expecting My game is geared for clay, but once I got used to the bounce I was fine.

Top seeds tomorrow, and one of them is top 500 in Australia, so I'll pretty much live up to my name

You bitch!

Honestly, I really think so given my opponent's level (he's one I'd beaten before even in my bad old days) and my improvement since then.

--

I've lost my last 4 but apart from one of them, they've all been close (this includes my 'worst match ever'). Two of the other losses, I lost in an STB. On Saturday, I lost 8-10 in an STP.

I tried out a more conservative style (first time in my life, God I'm slow) and it really paid off though. I didn't really hit less winners overall, I just had less rash errors and weren't afraid of extended rallies and things like that. I also tried to incorporate some more drop-shot. It only took me years to stop trying only my wannabe ball-bashing game . God I'm slow.

So now I'll try and make that happen more going forward .

I won doubles afterwards, at least. Next week I play somewhere I've never won a match . Oh well, I can't play worse than yesterday

Re: Your tennis results?!

Playing a JT but got straight into MD and 2nd round due to a bye.

Yesterday lost opening match 1-6 1-6. Played below average but missed soooooo many gp and bp, even 40-0 twice. Plus he got massive luck on 2 gp with a netcord and a fluke bounce. Should have been 3 and 2 at the very least BH was useless he kept hitting to it and 1st serve% was poor.

Better today however, into 4th round of conso with a 6-2 6-2 win

BH held up better and I returned well. Lost doubles 3 & 4 playing with a new partner, we did well considering, and we even led *3-2 in the second, and had *4-5 30-0 before m partner flubbed 3 very easy volleys omfg Still, I played well

Another conso tomorrow
