Re: Caroline Garcia

Disappointing from Caro today and i am quite annoyed after a good showing yesterday she gave us this today. Feels like every time she takes a slight step forward she takes another step back

Re: Caroline Garcia

I think she had the thought of playing two matches again on the back of her mind and wanted to get this done in straights.

I wish she can keep these 2nd set leads. She let one go against Cepelova too

Re: Caroline Garcia

Caro was a bit petulant in the 2nd set after giving up the initial break lead . But she saved some set points in the tiebreaker.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Not everyday does Caro win twice in a day!!!!

Good thing she got the Vinci match done in straights or she would have had to play twice tomorrow too. I was worried it was going the same way as the Cepelova match, but this time she took the tiebreak.

Re: Caroline Garcia

Caro will resume at 2-2 in the third set vs Jana Cepelova today
The bad news is that would mean playing twice tomorrow. The good news is I hopefully will see the match(es).

Re: Caroline Garcia

Caro starts her defence vs Jelena Jankovic. Jelena's been so bad this season - but still has to be respected

nazzac Next she defends her Mallorca title then Wimbledon. So not a lot of grass court matches for her

Re: Caroline Garcia

I did not watch the match, but we need to not forget that Karo is #3.. and a little more experience than Caro. I heard she rushed a little at some important points..
Anyway good result overall, can't wait for the next tournament.

I guess the coach came up with the game plan which may be the problem for this match

Re: Caroline Garcia

i feel so sad for Garcia not being in the semi finals, it would've been great to see a French player making the semi final at RG

but she should be proud for having made the QF

Re: Caroline Garcia

I am just glad she did not get completely overwhelmed by the situation.

Yes, in the big stages of the match Pliskova was the better player, but that is to be expected as she is more experienced in these matches than Caroline.

Judging by the highlights the played pretty well but did not use the right tactics to win. She tried to 'Out-Pliskova' Pliskova it seems and unless Karolina has an off day or Caro really plays well, she is not going to win that way. She needed to move Karolina around a bit more.

I only saw the handshake and not when she left the court, but i liked the handshake, not only because they seem friendly with each other, but also because Caroline did not look like she took the defeat hard. She was actually smiling during the handshake and i liked that. Hopefully she looks positively on her tournament.

Another thing, i think Caroline really handled herself well here. There has been a lot of drama surrounding herself, Kiki and the whole Fed Cup situation, but Caroline remained classy. She did not say anything stupid in response, she did not give a salty handshake to Alize and she did not get carried away with the crowd.

I think despite the comments towards her and the attempted character assassination, people are beginning to see Caroline for who she really is and warm to her. I always believed she had a really unfair reputation of being an arrogant brat, but now people are seeing that is not the case.
