Don't be fooled by all the improvement in green. It was impossible not to improve on her 2013 season.

I wonder which coaches on tour do this kind of number-crunching to analyze their players' effectiveness?

When you are weak in one area, such as that inability to convert the big points, that's when you want to maximize your advantage in every other possible area to compensate. That's why Julia's haphazard approach to scheduling tournaments is so . Every little advantage matters greatly. Picking up those easy ranking points would pay multiple dividends by giving her some breathing space and easing the pressure, which might be the key to boosting her mental strength in the matches that matter.

Re: Julia Görges statistics and ranking thread

I guess that stat tells us, what we see on the court. Julia is quite there, can hold the pace of the better players, but can't hold it constantly to finish a match, yet.

Re: Julia Görges statistics and ranking thread

Once again I can`t quite get you.

Some Stats seem very useful to me, some not. This one imo looks more like a voluntary extra task.
So what`s the problem if somebody obviously has a different opinion about it and I request that ?
Beside that I think that this is probably my first ever comment in this thread and it`s not my intention to take more care about it than before.

Re: Julia Görges statistics and ranking thread

Another post that has absolutely nothing to do with statistics and rankings. You're not interested in it and think it's stupid, fine, but then leave the people who are interested in it be instead of ridiculing them.

Couple of reasons I can think of:

- Due to her low ranking she has to play Q a lot which gives her easier opponents
- She has avoided a bunch of "easy points" tournaments where scoring ranking points would've been easier like Doha or Birmingham
- She plays big points terribly:

http://www.wtatennis.com/players/player/12610#stats

Service points won: 59.5%
Break points saved: 50.6%

Return points won: 43.0%
Break points converted: 40.1%

So basically those points who really count she plays significantly worse.
Sorry, that`s quite a nonsense, Katja.
First of all you are harsh without any argument and then you try to transport a certain picture of mine in this subforum.
The other people in this part of the forum don`t have any overview or clue and also not enough German knowledge to jugde about the things that are going on in the German threads.
Beside the first point that`s additionally unsportsmanlike as well.

Re: Julia Görges statistics and ranking thread

So Julia actually is a Top 30 player and we all were just too stupid to realize it.

RU 90 @
Tbh, I`m missing a certain amount of irony in your post, because the context of your supposition is pretty obvious, isn`t it ?
Creativity and state of boredom seem to have no limits, but I always wonder for what reasons people are producing such baubles of numbers.

Re: Julia Görges statistics and ranking thread

And her two won three-setters this year came immediately after the off season and after a long break (walkover vs. Kuznetsova gave her 3 days off), with no doppio at both tournaments.
