I agree in theory, but in all honesty Sam needs a strong run in Sydney to have a realistic chance of pulling off another surprise in Melbourne. Another first or second round loss is just not going to give her the momentum she'll need.

Wow, I'm touched, seriously. I missed all you guys too, especially after hearing that Sam had lost to Benesova of all people. Been on the road all week, ironically enough in Australia, arriving in Brisbane just hours after Sam bombed out, but have been so tied up I haven't even had the chance to follow live scores. After Sam lost I didn't even have the heart to go online to seek consolation. Hopefully she can turn things around in Sydney, although the draw there certainly hasn't done her any favours. Australia's time zone is keeping me sleepless, too!

I really assumed that she was going to win this match. I guess I underestimated both Iveta, and how much of an effect playing in Australia has on Sammy.
She was very nervous, from the beginning to the end.

Re: Brisbane 2012

Ah well, what can I say. Just another match which results in a loss

Sam at least has Sydney still to find some more matches under her belt.

Yep. Back to the good ole days. Who was it that said Sam wouldn't lose to any scrubs in 2012?

I just woke up and saw the score. It's a bit disappointing but not all too surprising. Kind of glad I didn't wake up to watch though

Re: Brisbane 2012

Well...didn't expect this to happen but I'm not too bothered by this loss. Iveta just played amazingly well and Sam just couldn't do too much about it. I'm more disppointed for not being able to see Sam vs Kim!!

Its a tough field though.
Yeah it's so hard for her. Play well and she feels the pressure; play badly and...she feels the pressure.

You never know though, she could have a crap Sydney and still do well in AO. It really is one match at a time
True; this is, after all, the woman who won her first GS a couple of months after being knocked out in the first round of Wimbledon. Guess we'll have to wait and see (and desperately hope ).
